everglades trip with tcd

We did one several years ago. It was a 2 day trip (but the first day was the Everglades which they also sold as a stand alone tour). It is a VERY long drive through very dull central Florida and I wouldnt recommend it if you have children under 10. I think it took nearly 4 hours to reach Everglades City (City being an American euphamism for a general store a church and a gas station :D).

The tour compromised a driving tour round some of the swamplands. A stop at an Alligator handling show, where there were snakes and gators pretty much roaming loose, then out on the airboat ride through the swamp.

It was OK, but VERY hot (MUCH hotter here than in Orlando). The temp reached 105 degrees at one point. As I said, we split the trip with a stay at Marco Island & Naples (including a cruise, lunch and dinner on both days). I wouldnt bother with the Everglades again unless visiting other places in South Florida.

Having done the Boggy Creek airboats in Orlando as well, I really see no point at all in trekking 300 miles to do this tour. Boggy Creek is excellent, 20 mins from Disney and you could be in the middle of nowhere, even the Everglades! Saw just as many Gators here as we did in the Everglades, plus eagles and lots of other wildlife.

i think i've done the trip you're on about and thought it was wonderful value for money. we had lunch on a boat touring the millionaires houses in naples, then went to the everglades where we did an airboat ride, a swamp buggy ride and then toured the complex, then we went to the coast and had our evening meal in a restaurant right on the beach where we watched the sunset! superb.
