View Full Version : Dolphin Sights
Hi, as much as I would love to swim with the dolphins, I don't think my youngest would want to!
Has anyone tried a boat tour which takes you out to see the dolphins in their own enviroment?
I saw an advert for one in Clearwater. Anyone tried it?
Your opinions or recommendations would be gratefully received thanks! :p:

We went out on a boat in the Everglades that took you out in the national park area rather than the more inland water ways. We saw dolphins on this trip.
But our best viewing was whilst standing on the beach at Captiva, a pod of dolphins were obviously fishing and were only a couple of metres from shore. We watched for about 30mins, it was amazing.

We went on the Seascreamer from Clearwater marina last October and it was a wonderful hour. The boat starts off very slowly out of the marina and works its way out to the Gulf. Once out there, the engines are turned up full speed and off you go. It is the wake made from the boat that the dolphins love jumping about in and we must have seen about 20 dolphins in all.
Make sure you get a seat at the back of the boat when boarding because that is where the captain tells you all to stand to get the best view.

Is there a website for this boat I could view?

You'll find details of the Seascreamer here (http://www.seascreamer.com/). We've been twice now and would happily go again. It's a brilliant trip.

Like Batleyboy says, the best view is at the back so do make sure that you get there in time to grab that seat!

Hi! This is my first post! We stayed a week in Clearwater last October and we were recommended by friends to go on the Little Toot for dolphin viewing and it was great as the dolphins came up close and the boat was able to go in fairly shallow water whereas the bigger boats can't. It was one of the highlights of our Florida holiday.
I tried to post the link but as I am a new member I am not allowed to post links but if you type in Little Toot Clearwater in Google you will get the link. If my memory serves me correctly the Sea Screamer and Little Toot are owned by the same company.

Here is a photo of the SeaScreamer in its dock.

It's a great trip, but beware that there is no shade once you are out in open water. Take plenty of SPF50.

And your trip will be better if you ignore the 60 year old (bald on top with a ponytail!!) poseur on the boat who thinks he is God's gift to young girls.
