Welcome to the DIBB Dave!

Personally I think you've got it well covered with the tickets. Clearly you have more ticket days than you need, but this gives you lots of flexibility. Also the parks should be fairly quiet, which should also help with flexibility.

Regarding which days to do which parks, I usually make a planning table (I know that sounds a bit control freakish!) with the days down the side and hte parks across the top.

I go to the park websites to find the opening times and any parade or firework times and write them in the boxes. I then colour in the boxes red, yellow or green according to the "busy days" guide. I think the guide on this site is a bit out of date - I'll try to find a link to one that has been updated since Disney changed its Extra Magic Hours days for onsite guests.

Anyway, once you've made the table it becomes fairly obvious which days to do which parks!

hi dave:wave:
if you get the tickets you are planning to you will have the great advantage of park hopping. you could try a water park for a few of the mornings and then a theme park later in the day. we are not really in to MGM that much and it is not very big so we usually only go once (am) for a few hours and then park hop to epcot and stay for fireworks. you could also do AK early am til mid afternoon and then park hop to MK for a walk around and the fireworks. with the 14 day ultimate ticket you can visit all the disney parks & water parks as often as you like - disney quest is also unlimited entry (good for evenings or if you get a wet day). if you went for the 14 day ultimate and you weren't bothered about sea world, busch gardens and wet n wild then you could go for the universal orlando pass. you can get 7 days for the price of 2 or 14 days for the price of 3 (bargainattractions.com & others also doing same deal). this will get you into U.S and IOA and i think they expire 14 days after 1st use. you would have the advantage of the disney water parks as often as you want with the ultimate pass so you could save a bit against the price of the flexticket.
september (have been only once at this time) was nice - weather good and still quite warm and the theme parks were much less crowded - we didn't have to use our fastpass for any rides. i think week days were better for the parks when we were there but if you have the advantage of park hopping and you go to a park which is too busy you can park hop without having wasted a day pass from your ticket.
the first time we took our daughter she was 23 months - we just stuck her in the buggy, pulled the sun canopy over her and pushed her around all day. they great advantage of this is "the buggy" soon becomes "the trolley" for loading all the shopping on to!
ps. our first trip we went for 2wks and i had written out a schedule/itinerary of where we were going each day and stuck to it. it worked well for us.
sorry about the length of this:(
i hope it is of some help to you
