Hi,
Can anyone tell me what this ride is like??? Is it a roller coaster or one of those virtual reality rides?? Only asking as the latter make me feel very queasy!!!:confused2
Hi and welcome to the dibb !
It's a mixture. You sit in a car that moves on a track and there's 3D themeing all around you. You wear 3D glasses. It's one of the best rides IMO and you've def got to give it a go.
Cheers,
Paul
I loved the special effects but must admit that it made me feel a bit sick when I went on it last time so don't do it just after lunch!!

A BIG thumbs-up for the Spiderman ride from our family  One of our all-time favourite attractions. You become very immersed in the 3D image and effects, DD and I hate big coasters but this was sooo much fun :D
Diane :D
(oh and welcome to the Dibb :jump: )
A BIG BIG thumbs up..It features the best interaction between movement and 3d film you will ever experience it and to miss it would be a crime....
Welcome to the dibb

I too get sick on ALL the simulated rides, but spiderman didn't make me sick at all. It was the best ride in IOA. Even my 60 year old parents enjoyed it. Don't miss it.

One of the only things we liked about IOA but probably worth the admission on its own. Breathtaking, realistic and full of surprises.

Perhaps my favourite ride in Orlando, went on it time and again (despite screaming like a schoolgirl with a grazed knee the first time I went on it hehe)

One of our families favourite rides. I too suffer on simulator rides, but found that if I closed my eyes during the worse of the simulator effects at the end it was fine! The earlier 3D part of the ride is great!!!!!!!!!!! You must try it.

tried to go on it...... but the waiting time was 2 hours....
Better things to do than wait 2 hours for a ride...... not getting any younger here you know...
So went and had one of those huge turkey legs instead.

LOL, l have to say l wouldn't wait 2 hours for a ride but do it when you go back Jeff !!!!!
all of the above - it was definitely our families favourite ride last time - even Gran and Grandad (both in their late 60s) loved it.

Spiderman is the only ride to make both myself and my wife feel ill, the actual ride is very good but the 3d effects made us both feel really off. It had been suggested that because we both wear contact lenses this could have had an effect???
Been on it twice though just to make sure, and the same thing happened?
Other 3d rides/shows don't affect us must be our bad spidey senses :wink .

I have to agree with Carlmelia on this..although the ride was technically brilliant and the 3D experience exciting, it didn't make up for having to go and lie down in a shady area for 5 minutes after it
Or am I just a big wuss??
Ian
The interesting thing Carlmelia is that I said earlier how it made me feel sick and I wear contact lenses too!! Never heard of this before but it's an interesting thought.
Bev C
I wear contacts and felt absolutely fine on the Spiderman ride.

Have to agree it is one of the best rides in the whole of Orlando.
Sorry WDW but you really do need to find something to match it!

I wear contact lenses and I was fine - in fact I think we rode at least 6 times - so if you wear lenses dont be put off - everyone is different.

Give it a try it's great fun :wiggle:
Last time I went on it, my mum and I had to take a taxi back to the hotel, I felt that ill and with the sun on me as well, I had to go to bed for the afternoon, we left the rest of the family there to carry on, I can go on the hulk anything like that but put me on a roundabout or motion master and I'm really sick. Back to the future is the same for me, and the one at seaworld. But you never know until you try.

We all loved it especialy DD4 but I must admit it did make me feel a tad queesy, just enough to stop me going on anything for an hour or so then I was ok. Worth the risk though IMHO

I LOVE THIS RIDE!!!
It's the first one we do at IOA usually, just to get us in the theme park mood.
Brillantly done - awesome effects and I'm proud that I can name all of the characters in the ride (ok ok, I'm a comic geek!!)
This ride is regualarly rated as THE no1 ride in the world by theme park websites.
Its fantastic and none of us have ever suffered any ill effects as we dont find it particularly violent.
Dont Miss IT!!!!!!

I don't like simulated rides when things touch you...such as bugs life. Does that happen on this ride??

Yep - you just get a little squirt of water every now and again. This ride is a must do - I was a little freaked out by it - but I just kept closing my eyes and I was fine - it is a real intense experience but you must go on it!!

This ride is amazing. I can honestly say that I have never experienced anything like it, and it is very difficult to explain it to anyone who has not been on it.
:jump: :jump:
I too get terribly motion sick on simulator rides. Wild Atrctic @ Seaworld and Star Tours @ MGM turn my stomach, and I was actually sick on Mission Space!
Spiderman did not have this effect on me at all. I think it may be because it is a mixture of simulator technology and a track ride.
It is definiately a NOT TO BE MISSED attraction.

Sam smith,
were you actually sick on mission space while the ride was in motion?

Yes I'm afraid I was - when the ride was still going!

It was the first ride on the first day of our holiday last year and I barfed!
Thanks goodness for the sick bags! (yes I did manage to get it in there). I'm glad there wasn't a ride photo. Imagine that - me on the end with my face in a bag!
An improvement though as some might say!
I am still glad I did it though
AWESOME!
