We did it in December and it is $14.95 for each Oyster. They guarantee there will be something in it!
The pearl inside the one DD picked was worth $52 (according to Sea World's valuation shop :D) although the girl next to us had two rare blue pearls valued at nearly $200!
WARNING...this is very addictive, so limit yourself!!!!!
If you want to read more about it, read the last but one day of my trip report, where I explain a bit about what happens. Link is below my countdown :D .

Many thanks for that Rusty30, i think i will defo be doing this when we go, although i am unsure about the opening of the oyster...... dont know if i can deal with "an assortment of bells, hammers and silly hats", would prefer for them to just open it and let me have it without a huge deal being made of it!!!! :D
Cheers

If your doing Disney then Epcot in the Japan section of the world showcase does it too and they do some great settings. I think Downtown Disney does it but Japan is a good show as well. Around the same price in both.
My DS picked one in Epcot Japan. He was given a double gong as he got twin pearls. CMs made a big fuss over opening the oyster and finding the pearls then when he got the twins even more fuss was made:D I think that the Epcot was a "classier" kind of fuss if you know what I mean:confused: but for me "the fuss" was just as much a part of the purchase!!!

ps he said he's keeping them to make me a present for a special birthday!!
