I have asked this before ages ago but got no answers..... When in UK you can buy Florida orange juice... when in Florida you can't get a Floridian orange, they all seem to be from California, and I should know I looked everywhere for a Florida orange. So where are they then and why can't you buy any to eat?

i am not sure of this but as you drive toward the villas on highway 27 there are a couple of roadside sellers and they have oranges ..maybe they are the local oranges?

Try the BIG orange on the 192. It specialises in Florida orange produce. As Lesley says, you often see roadside sellers with crates of oranges as well.

Most of the orange farms sell the oranges to make juice, not for "eating". The big Californian oranges seem more popular in the supermarkets as eating oranges.

The first thing we do when we arrive in Orlando is take a trip to Davidson of Dundee Orange Groves as they have the finest OJ we have ever tasted (nothing compares) - fresh from the groves behind the shop. They sell all sorts of things too like, marmalades, sweets etc - the shop is amazing. They will also take you on a tour of the groves and the sweet factory (check before going for times etc).

His products are sold all over Orlando (and probably further), but the OJ needs to be bought from him direct.

Take a look on his web site for products and directions.

If you intend taking a trip over, call first to see if they have OJ in stock.

October through March or April is when most Florida Oranges are ripe for picking. Most packing plants are closed during the summer. Orange production was down about 8-10% this year due to the hurricanes.
