I always look on here and read other peoples problems and didn’t think that i would have one. We are going to Florida for xmas and new year which has been booked for 6mnth now. We have just paid the rest of the balance for the holiday Yesterday!!! with the holiday costing £5400, and Today!!! we have just received a call from TCD to say that the villa we asked for specifically on lake Berkley will not be available for us. We paid £200 more to choose lake Berkley as we liked the location but we have been told they want to put us on the 27 miles away from were we want to be……OH!!!! and they want us to pay £75 extra for each week because the villa is more expensive grrrrrrrrrrrr I am so angry. Anyway thought id share my frustration with you guys. Thanks for listening to me moaning on lol!!!!!

Its annoying when they do things like that ...I always book my flights through them but book my villa privately so i know what i am getting at the end of the day :D

How annoying! Did they not check availability when you booked it?! Unless it was a ploy to get you to go with them, and then make you pay for more expensive alternative accomodation - wouldn't suprise me nowadays!

It may be that the owner has sold it or changed management companies and it is no longer in the system for tour operator bookings.

If the villa is not available for any reason then surely it's up to TCD to find similar OR better - including the location element - at no extra cost. If a car hire company or a hotel have to upgrade you due to overbooking they don't expect you to pay more. You may have to accept that your original villa is not available but I would definately not pay more. Threaten them with ABTA or the ombudsman.

yeah we book with travel city and we had that this year yeah was supposed to stay in highlands reserve but it got changed to lake berkley only differece is they didnt charge us extra at all we had booked an executive villa for our stay.
apparantly the reason they do this is because houses are sold or sometimed double booked
unless you specifically tell tcd which area you want to stay in they put you anywere last yeah we were in in clear creek which is very nice but abit out of the way for us considering we dont take a car

they said it was because they was'nt dealing with the company the villa was under, we are tying to get it sorted out now but it's really anoying when stuff like this happens but hopefully we'll get it sorted out,i think were going to ask for a refund on the villa and get one ourselves.

i think were going to ask for a refund on the villa and get one ourselves.
I think that is what I would do.
Good Luck

CHeck what it says on your invoice. Once you have paid the final payment TCD normally don't charge you anything else.
They use a massive agency for their villas so I doubt that they have changed agency.
We are going with TCD in December and when we asked about booking a specific location we were told that we would pay £50 per week to book a specific location but that was not a guarantee. If we did not get the location we wanted the extra charges would be refunded. There was certainly no mention of paying even more for getting somewhere we did not want.

There is a clause about this in all the small prints of all the companys.......we were booked to stay in a particular hotel in Tunisa a couple of years back with First Choice. They dropped the hotel we had booked and offered us another one. The first one we booked was close to the beach and had a full program of entertainment, the one they offered was miles from the beach and had no entertainment. We were told the same thing if we wished to book a different hotel or a different holiday we could but if it came to more we would have to pay the difference or we could have a full refund.......I checked the small print at they can do this. They only have to give you compensation if they make chances within weeks of you going. We cancelled the holiday and booked a better hotel cheaper with a different company......so it might be worth your while to look around and see if you can rebook with someone else cheaper.......hope you get it sorted out
