Hi Dibbers.
Just wanted to know if any of you have stayed at The Hard Rock Hotel?
My family & I have just booked to go in May next year and are really looking forward to it.
We would really appreciate it if anyone could let us know of their experiences there. We have read the it is quite pricey for drinks and food in there. Is this the case?
Many thanks for any feedback.

We have a couple of nights every year at the HRH. It is superb!! When you check in, ask for a Loews First application form. This gives you Loews First membership which entitles you to a free room up-grade, free welcome amenitie (ie: bottle wine, beer, milk & cookies etc) and loads more. Check out their web site loewsfirst.com. Pool views are superb as they over look the Universal parks. It takes less than 5 mins to walk to Universal. Pool is excellent - underwater sound system and a slide! You wont be disappointed. Food at the hotel is expensive - we go over to Starbucks or Pastamore on City Walk for brekkie. You can also use the facilities at the other Universal hotels - Royal Pacific and Portofino Bay. We will be there in a week and can't wait!!!

U can also sign up online for the loews card at their website as well if that helps:beer:
We stayed there in April and it was fabulous! :D
We signed up with Loews before we went, that way we could add our Loews membership number to the booking, and when we arrived at the hotel we'd already been upgraded to a pool view without even asking! :D
If you want your time at the pool to be really special, why not think about booking a cabana? It's not cheap but it really did make out time at the pool special. You have your own fridge, tv, table and chairs and loungers so you know that you don't have to rush to the pool to get a lounger. The fridge was filled with water and soda, and we also got a bowl of fruit and 2 floats (the large lounger type size) to use in the pool.
We splashed out and had our breakfast delivered to the room by room service, but as we only stayed 2 nights it wasn't too bad, and just made our stay that bit more luxurious. :D
If you want any more info on the cabana, let me know.
I'm sure you're going to have a fabulous time!
Just found the link to my previous post when I first booked the cabana: http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42076&perpage=15&highlight=cabana&pagenumber=1

Guys
I'm gutted, just had a reply back from Loews First, as we have booked out honeymoon as part of a "package", we do not qualify for any priveleges :(
I though this may have been the case, but it would seem the only way to get the benefits is to book flight and accomodation separately, but when we normally travel (November) this almost always seems to be the cheapest option (and believe me I do my research).
Oh well, guess just staying on-site should be enough excitement for me!!!!!

can the Lowes First be applied to the booking if you haven't booked directly with them? We're booked to stay at RPR through Virgin.

Hi Ang
In a nutshell no. My holiday was booked through BA Holidays and as you are not paying "rack rates" they will not honour first benefits.

I am now a gold member and have always went by Package holiday with My Travel & Thomas Cook, I've always recieved the benefits, really its only those staying 1 or 2 nights that have a problem we've stayed for 2 weeks at time always get our membership no added at check-in and use the gym and get welcome gift sometimes two gifts and the free paper daily also ate checkout, I think so long as use the Loews line for check in be polite and casually tell them what gift u want it works, we have had to wait more than 24 hrs though, all I do is approach front desk and just caually ask if they can ensure my wine or whatever is sent up as its not arrived and at the RPR we've not had a problem:beer:
We are platinum members. We had stayed the odd night booking independently but stayed there 3 weeks this year with virgin as part of a deal. We checked in in the loews express line in the lobby and got the benefits no problem.
