View Full Version : Hawaii ???
We are starting to plan our holiday for next year, the kids want to go back to Florida and we are thinking of Hawaii.
Has anybody been to Hawaii and if so what did you think?
Thanks

Miles away! 24hrs on a plane, and extremely expensive when you get there.
Id rather go to Tobago or Jamica
Friends went - they said it was lovely for couples, but they didn't recommend it for children.
I'll let you know how we get on in October.

All the best places are miles away...but well worth it. We stayed there 5 years ago for a week after a tour of the west coast of USA. It is a 5 hour flight to Hawaii from LA, and we chose Maui island.
The island is very green and lush, the people are very friendly, the hotel (Kapalua Bay) was amazing set in huge grounds of colourful gardens, with each room as big as a suite with a balcony overlooking the sweeping ocean, and the sunsets were awesome (and romantic!) - just standing at the edge of the grounds of the hotel as it dropped into the water below, staring ahead at the pacific ocean, as the sun literally disappeared in front of youe eyes, to differeny hues of orange, yellow and pink, in an eery silence of awe and majesty (sounds good eh?!).
It was a welcome tonic after a busy 15 whirlwind tour, just to relax in beautiful tropical surroundings, being pampered with lovely food and staff. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but for that once in a lifetime thing, well worth it - if only for the sunsets!!
We've been to Cayman Islands, Bahams and St. Lucia (all extremely nice)but for overall quality this eclipses them all for sure.

So you say Hawaii is not a place for kids? As i plan to take DD to Hawaii at Easter then fly to LA to meet up with my DH while he is out there on business.

I loved Hawaii! :) We stayed at Waikiki Beach for 5 days during our round the world trip and it was one of my favourite places.
Loads to do and see and some fascinating sights - Pearl Harbour was truly amazing and a very moving experience.
Cost wise we didn't find it any more expensive than the US mainland. It was most Japanese and Australian tourists there when we were there and I would love to go back (but, it is a long flight!!).
We didn't go with children, however, everything we did would have appealed to my two at the ages they are now (9 and 13).
If you'd like to know anymore info don't hesitate to pm me. :)
