View Full Version : DLP at Christmas
Is it mega mega busy like WDW.
I need a Disney fix and was just wondering...............
Anne we went just after new year in 1995!!
It was fantastic, the xmas decorations were still up and they even had the father christmas parade joyeux noel:D Alot of the decorations were more than half price.
It is our favourite DLP holiday, it wasnt busy it was great. However it was freezing. I dont know how the crowds would be now though:(
There was a huge tree on main street and it has great atmosphere

Anne,
we were there two years ago and it was pretty busy but there was a fab atmosphere (really cold and Christmasy) and the Christmas meals and dinner shows that they do are wonderful. We went on Dec 23rd and stayed until 26th at the Sequoia Lodge, it was pretty expensive but we got money for all our kids presents from their grandparents and they only had a couple of small presents on the day from us and it was great. There was none of the usual frenzied present opening and what better place to spend Xmas (apart from WDW of course)!
Go for it!

It is likely to be very busy, if not at full capacity, on the weekends running up to Xmas and New Year and the weekdays around Xmas and New Year are still busy. The weekdays earlier in December are meant to be quieter. The French schools go back very early in January (2nd Jan 2006) so we have decided to go then, should be nice and quiet and the Xmas decs, parade and shows will still be on!
From another thread this was a short trip report from Sunday 12th December:
"The park was extremely busy. We expected to be able to get on “It’s a Small World” without too much of a wait but even that was 60 minutes so we decided not to bother. We then decided it would be less busy in Adventureland so headed across to Pirates of the Caribbean – wrong again!!! Even though it has an extremely long queuing area inside and it’s a quick loader people were queuing outside!!! We decided to go and look at the information boards in Main Street which said that every single ride had a wait of at least an hour and all the Fastpasses had long since been taken. The Liberty and Discovery arcades are usually pretty empty but even these were full to bursting with people sitting on the floor to eat their food as all the tables and chairs were occupied!!!
By 2.30 we thought we’d be able to get a meal but we were proved wrong yet again!!! The arcades were still heaving and all the restaurants we tried were impossible to get into with huge long queues inside and out and absolutely no free tables or chairs anywhere. After looking everywhere we eventually found a table in Colonel Hathi’s Pizza Outpost and finally got to eat at 3.30!!
We resigned ourselves to not being able to get on any rides so left the park where they were already queuing 7 or 8 deep for the Christmas Parade. We went back to the village to have a look round the shops there, which were, predictably, bursting at the seams!! We decided that we weren’t going to be able to get on any rides or get anything to eat so went back to our hotel."
Thats when we went and i would really recommend it:D

Thanks everyone. Sounds like it's as busy as WDW then. Already done that one.
Looks like the New Year would be a good time as I didn't realise the French schools go back early.
Ohh could get flights for 4 of us for £231 31/12 - 4/1
Bet it would be cheaper if you went on the 2nd jan. The xmas decs are still up then:D

I have been to DLP twice at christmas but always been at the beginning of December. It is queit but does get busier at the weekend. If you go within the 2 weeks christmas holiday then it will be really busy and more expensive, I found flights on easy jet for beginning of December for £40 each. Have you checked this and then hotel is also cheaper at begin of December or before holidays begin. Check out the price grids at Disneylandparis.com.

We're going on the 3rd January 2006 - the price was still the same for us, but the queues will be lighter. Decs and celebrations are still going, so we've got 5 fab days lined up.

We went last December around the fifth, for two nights in the Sequoia lodge, on a budget break, driving across. Driving was surprisingly ok, though probably not adviseable with kids, as we're a couple driving was shared, or at least i drove there, and she drove into the park!
Alot of other people have said it, but it was really cold there, something for some reason i wasn't expecting, but it was good.
Queues weren't that bad really, in the main park we had one queue that was over twenty minutes, and the queue for the lion King was a nightmare, it took us two attempts to get tickets for the english version, even queued up to see mickey, and wasn't waiting that long.
Queues in the studio were even better, got pictures with all the characters without a problem, and walked onto the attractions without queuing.
The only thing we did was get the park maps, work out where the charcters were going to be, and headed to them first thing. I think the longest queue we had over the three days was the rain forest cafe! ! !
