My family are planning a trip to New Zealand next year. They plan to stay in Dubai for three nights on the way out. Can anyone recommend a really special hotel, as it is a once in a lifetime treat. Thanks for the help.
I wouldn't mind staying at the 7* one!!!!...looks great.
Not been to Dubai, but have heard that the hotels are wonderful and I really would like to visit one day.

This is the information I use for Dubai ..... I hope it may help you a bit
There are two main projects that are particularly affecting hotels in the Jumeirah Beach area, the new Marina development and the Palm Island, both shown on the map below.
The Marina development (in orange on the map below) affects the row of hotels on Jumeirah beach, including the Sheraton, Hilton, Oasis Beach, Ritz Carlton, Royal Meridien, Metropolitan Beach (Habtoor Grand), Le Meridien Mina Seyahi. This is a development of approximately 50 skyscrapers and the building work is extensive. However the development is inland from the hotel, so guests with sea facing rooms are generally unaffected in their rooms (Hilton Sea facing rooms are side sea view so partially affected).
Guests in, what are normal sold as, Marina view rooms will have a view of a construction site. They are fine for people wanting a lead in holiday price, who are not interested in the view from the room.
When guests are on the beach at the above hotels, they are generally unaffected by the building work, as the hotel forms a barrier between the guests and the construction. However if a guest looks back inland from the beach they will be able to see the buildings being built.
The other development is the Palm Island. The hotel that is mainly affected by this is the Royal Mirage, which has a view from the beach of the Palm being built. Some will find it interesting and some will hate it, but ALL clients must be warned about it. It is basically a lot of cranes building hotels and villas, about half a mile from the beach.
The other hotel affected by the Palm is the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi. This is slightly less affected than the Royal Mirage, as it is further from the Palm Trunk road. The Mina Seyahi is also having a new Hotel Tower built in the grounds, so this is not a hotel for those averse to building work.
Burj Al Arab
Jumeirah Beach Hotel
Mina A Salam
Al Qasr
Dar Al Masyaf
Jumeirah Beach Club
Dubai Marine Beach.......
.....are all unaffected in any way by these projects (except for distant views of them)
If I can help further give me a shout

Hmmm good point as at the moment I am on codeine daily for pain relief, and could well end up taking it for the rest of my life! Best I not go there then :(
