Hi

Due to fly out in November for 3 weeks!!! Orginally planned to stay at the Howard Johnson Plaza Resort but due to really bad feedback we have recently changed to the Rodeway International.

Has anyone stayed there before? I know it not The Ritz but I just would like to know it is clean and freindly as we are taking my DS who will be 4 and it is his first visit.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

stayed there march 05, rooms very basic they provide a microwave and fridge but no plates or cutlery, but not a problem as you would not want to eat in the rooms, no balcony door welded shut so no fresh air, When we went it was the spring holidays and a different group of school kids stopped every night lots of noise banging of doors ect stupid phone calls from bored kids at daft hours, just the 2 of us would have been awful with a young child. But on the plus side staff are friendly, the hotel is in an excellent location on I- drive, 2min walk from wet and wild, 10 min drive from universal studios hopefuly not put you of too much it could have just been down to the spring break and you really don't spend a lot of time in the rooms. Contact me direct if you want to clarify anything or want anymore info....Mark

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully it will not be too noisy when we are there. If it is that bad I will force my other half to move us to another hotel. Not having too much luck with the hotel situations at the moment!!

Hi

We have stayed there a couple of times and would happily go back, I found the rooms clean and spacious the only down side for me was the pool was on the small side compared to other hotels on IDrive but it was find for us and you have Wet & Wild just across the road if you want a dip in a bigger pool!

we are going to the rodeway in a couple of weeks so will let you know how we find it. My friend stayed there in May and said it was fine. She did say to ask for a high room though.

We stayed here in April and were very pleased with the accomodation. Rooms and hotel were very clean and nice and staff friendly we thought. We wouldn't have a problem with staying here again.

We are going in 3 weeks, and have asked for a low room with a pool view ... hope it's not too noisy

Will post a hotel review when we return.

Hi

We stayed at the Rodeway in 2003, we are also going back there this year, and infact have booked to stay there next year as well...!!

In my opinion the hotel does what it says on the tin. We found it to be clean an quiet and the staff very friendly. I personally would rather spend my money other ways than on a fancy hotel room in which we basically slept in. washed in and passed a little bit of time until we went out in the evening.

We found the location to be good, just opposite Wet n Wild, opposite a Ponderosa, Bennigans, Wendys and close enough to Universal that you could walk there (not that we ever did..!!:wink )

Infact there was nothing that I enjoyed more than looking out from the window and looking at the world passing by on I Drive and seeing the Hulk rollercoaster at IOA.

As long as you do not go expecting the american equivalent to the Dorcester Hotel then you can't go far wrong...:D

As everyone has stated, its cheap & cheerful.

Its clean, spacious & if your on a budget, you can't knock it.

The Breakfast buffet is really nice (check out the size of the chef (supersize) - he will convince you if nothing else). The bar is friendly & all the staff have genuine smiley faces.

They have security on the carpark in the evening so you don't get the pool invaded by drunken people straying off I-Drive.

I have stayed there several times & never had a problem.

Alway had piping hot water for showers, Lots of laundry facilities & ice machines, Fridge, Microwave,Safe,Iron & coffee facilities.

Good choice of TV channels & a video player in room (handy for the kids- Video rental store in reception also games room).

I get a kick out of sitting by the window & watchin the cars go by on I4 (sad) & its within walking distance of lots of bars & restaurants (so no driving issues).

Only thing that did bug me slightly- Fighting to get in the room in the evening, past a sea of pizza menus. But if thats all i can complain about, well............. Enjoy!!

We stayed there in April this year and I would happily have gone back. It is basic but wasn't too bad. We stayed in the Annex on the ground floor facing the pool and aside from the groups of school kids using the pool at night it was fine (in fairness they were always out by 10pm).

The pool is small for the size of the hotel but that was never a problem as there was hardly anyone in there during the day. Perfect location for wet 'n' wild and Universal in fact we walked to Universal from the hotel (only once mind). It's not the Hilton but good value all the same. :D

It's a shame you changed from the HoJo, we stayed there in May & thought it was absolutely fine. Not a hint of any of the problems all the bad reviews rave on about!

I have read in previous posts that you stayed there just recently. We stayed there in 1999 for our honeymoon and it was excellent so when we booked it again for this year I was surprised by all the bad feedback.

As said previously if it was just DH and myself I would have stayed there and seen what it was like for myself but as I have DS who will be 4 I dare not risk it.

Thanks for the feedback Sam and I am sure all the bad reviews about HoJo are being blown out of all preportion.

Cheers

Helen

We stayed here in April 99 and Iain has also stayed twice previously.

We were very pleased with the hotel, wouldn't have a problem staying here again. Very clean hotel, staff friendly and cheery.

Hi all, this is my first post on this absolute godsend of a forum!

My boyfriend and I are thinking of booking a holiday at the Rodeway inn. We don't drive, so I was wondering if anyone had used any of the free transportation to all the parks they say they provide. Are they okay, because thats all we will have to rely on!

Its $10 to Disney I emailed them as I will be staying their in May with no car. I decided I will use the Lynx it's cheaper and I love chating to the americans on the bus it's a great way to meet locals.

Hi Genna_h

We always walk to Universal, it is not that far and really makes a change to catching a bus or getting a taxi. We really enjoy the walk and can obviously get there and leave when we want to.

It does say that we will have to pay a local charge to get transport to Disney but as previously said it is not that badly priced. All in all the transport around International Drive is excellent!!

Go on book it!!!

Thank you for your advice, we are currently about to book our trip to florida, staying at the rodeway inn and flying with virgin. We are going from 27th Feb. to the 13. Mar.! I am v.excited already!

Just something to be aware of if you're looking to book online with virgin. After the price thats quoted in their brochure. they will lump on a single supplement of £224 pounds per person, whereas Thomson who I'm booking with do not, and have worked out a lot cheaper.
