Blue Lagoon
We had dinner at the Blue Lagoon on Tuesday evening (which happened to be my birthday). We had a reservation for 8pm which was probably a little late to be honest. The food and atmosphere in this restaurant is wonderful, but the service is rather slow. It would have been ok for an adult party, but the kids were starting to get a little ratty by the end. Saying that, I would certainly eat here again, but I would choose an earlier time.
We all chose to eat of the set price menu which was around 28 Euros for a 3 course meal. I had a prawn cocktail to start, followed by chicken curry, and creme brulee to finish. It was all lovely, fairly familiar dishes but with an unusual twist, nothing was so unusual that I wouldn't eat it (and I am pretty fussy) but it was all slightly different from the norm.
My only critisicm was that the kids menu was a little adventurous, so the kids all ended up ordered burgers off the teenager menu (which were fine).

Plaza Gardens Tea Party
We were a litte confused about this to be honest, and thought we were going for an early dinner, as I tried to book a character lunch, but was told the characters were only there for tea (whcih I took to mean dinner, but it didn't), anyway, we turned up at 3pm and found out we were having a dessert buffet.
Once we realised that, we decided that puddings for lunch was a great idea, and we could have a proper meal later in the evening.
The character tea is I think 13 Euros, and for that you get lots of desserts and drinks (all you can eat and drink) and about 6 characters. The character interaction was fairly well organised with people staying at their tables wihle the characters came round, which was a distinct improvement over our last character meal in 2001. We saw Minnie, Robin Hood, King John, a fox (maybe Brer Fox?), Tigger and I think a couple of others. To eat we had more cake, cookies, brownies, chocolate pudding etc then we could possibly eat, and we all left absolutely stuffed!
They also offer a birthday version of this tea which appeared to be the same with the addition of a birthday cake with candles and a birthday song sung by the characters.
Pizza Planet.
The Pizza Planet at DLP is miles better than the Florida one, it is a lot bigger and has a big childrens play area, with rex as the slide and slinker to crawl through. It also has video games for the older kids.
Food Choice, pizza, garlic bread, burgers, fries.
The best time to go is later in the day as all the rush has gone.
Cafe Mickey
This is the best restaurant I have ever been to I don't know why they have not got one at DTD.
You have to make reservations though (should be able to do this through your hotel) as it gets very busy. We have been 3 times and love it the characters are there and go round to each table. If you go try to be seated on the ground floor as when we have been all the waiters and characters start dancing on the tables and singing and doing the cha cha, its ace!!!
We sat upstairs when we went last time and they didn't do this and there are more seats upstairs so is a lot busier.
The food is great a little on the dear side but not too over extaushanant for Paris and Disney anyway.
Your food comes out sizzling and with the kids meal they get drink and free cup to take home and ice cream. Kids also get crayons and quiz and colouring sheets. (If you get the kids pasta its disney pasta with pasta shaped castle)
If you dont want to pay the dearer prices get a kids meal like me cause I'm a fussy eater!!
I would give Cafe Mickey 10 out of 10.

Hello
We were at DLP 2 weeks ago and this is where we ate:
Cowboy Cookout Barbeque in Frontierland - large barn self-serve restaurant which had plenty of tables at 3pm when we ate there. Standard chicken, ribs, burger and fries fare. We were starving and so would have eaten anything at that time! Not bad food - served beer also, nice theming.
Victoria's Home Style Restaurant - at the end of Main Street
Baguettes, sarnies, cakes, cookies crisps etc. Nice fresh Baguettes - lovely cakes. I had the giant cream filled profiterole! Hubbie had a cream-slice and DS went off to Casey's Corner to get himself some fries (which they didn't serve at Victorias). Typical 10 yr old boy - if they don't serve fries - he ain't eating!
Various in the Discovery Arcade - coffees and pastries etc. Tip: if you go into the Discovery Arcade, you will find plenty of tables and chairs and there are windows where you can order your food - windows in the Arcade are much quieter than window-service from Main Street side.
The Old Mill, Fantasyland - pizza slices, baguettes and sandwiches are offered along with cakes and ice-creams. Nice outside area to sit and people-watch.
The Blue Lagoon - this restaurant is nicely themed like a tropical cabana which is situated on the small sandy shore of the beach which makes up part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Great fun to wave at the boats of people on the ride! I had exactly the same meal as BevS97:D DH had Tuna and Swordfish fricasee and a delicious ice-cream and pineapple pud. An interesting menu is offered which starts at E22 - which is mainly salad choices. There is a E28 set menu, which we had and was3 courses. There is another more expensive seafood choice menu at E39. Kids menus are E10 and as Bev says, the choice was a bit ambitious for some kids. Our DS had the burger from the Teens menu at E15. He also had the 'Chefs Surprise' for dessert - I won't spoil if for you, but it is fun and sickly!! I highly recommend this restaurant for the atmosphere. Could be very romantic (if you left the kids at home!)
We made a PS for 7:00pm and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant - we got a table right by the beach front and had a real good time. Service was good and the meal unhurried. By the time we left at around 8:30pm all of the tables were filled and there was a long line of diners waiting to get in.
McDonalds, Disney Village - Well, McDonalds is pretty much the same all over the world. This Maccy D's is very large and has a circus theme. There are tables outside - with high glass panels around, for shelter and inside it is set on 2 levels. We went upstairs and the seating area was very nice. There were quiet booths or you could sit by the large window looking at the rest of the Village. Standard McD's fare - but there was a selection of cakes and the kids meal came with a puree'd apple fruit drink kind of thing - YUK :confused2
Plaza Gardens Tea Party - here is a chance to meet the characters and make yourself sick on cakes and sweets!! You will need a PS. There is a self-serve buffet style choice of sweets, cakes, pastries, puds, brownies, cookies and they do put out some croissants and bread rolls. After paying E13 each - adult/child same price, you help yourself to the all you can eat cake-fest!!! :p: Characters will then mingle for photos - they stop by your table and there is plenty of chance for photos. We saw ChipNDale, a pirate villain, Daisy and Donald Duck, the nasty king from Jungle Book (I think) and a few others - their names I forget. Good chance to meet some characters whilst filling up on junk at a very good price. Highly recommended. :D

Lou, my DH also had the Tuna and Swordfish Fricasse, I couldn't remember until I read that, but yup, same thing!
We didn't get the chef's surprise dessert, now I'm wishing we had!

:) Yummy wasn't it! I couldn't finish the Creme Brulee though - it was huge...
We always aim to have at least one dinner at Annette's Diner in the Disney Village. Always good food and appears good value. The wait for a table can be long at times. DD especially loves it when the waiting guys and gals (well those not on skates) get up on platforms and perform to some of the songs from Grease. Makes the visit a bit more special. Do they still do that ?

They didn't do it yesterday, but we were there about 2pm so after the proper lunch rush. (was it really only yesterday :( )
I didn't see anyone on skates either, cause i commented to DaveFM that it would be more fun with skating waitresses. I feel like I've only had half the experience now, so I definitely need to go back and demand the singing and skating waitresses!
have to say we didn't have to wait though, so that was a bonus, and the food was good.

OOooh this thread is getting me very excited abut my forthcoming halloween trip!! Everything sounds divine!
I got back 2 days ago and I can confirm that they still do the dance routine at Annettes Diner. We had a late dinner at about 10pm and they did it then. We were a bit disappointed there was no-one on skates at that time but I think they only do that during the day.
Also have to agree that Cafe Mickeys is amazing, the food was fantastic, the character interaction brilliant, they go around all the tables and sign autographs and pose for pictures it's great!
I would also recommend the Wild West Show - fantastic food and refills on beer/coke all night, not to mention the show was fantastic.

We are also just back. Had a lovely meal at Blue Lagoon, I would agree about the unhurried service but it was great for just two adults. I had the crispy crab starter, the curry and finished with the dessert plate which is abit of evert dessert, delicious!
Also had a snack in the Mexican cantina fast food outlet; service chaotic but the chicken burrito was excellent
Not sur if this is the right thread but also ate in the Restaurant des Stars in the Studios and was very impressed. it is cafeteria style and the food is of a very good quality. A tip, get there as soon as it opens for lunch, it is very popular after 12.30.

Blue Lagoon every time! Great meal in nice surroundings.
The Steakhouse in Disney Village was OK too.
I think you are much better going to the restaurants than the 'fast' food places. You don't pay a great deal more and you get a much better standard and service.
We ate at the Rain Forest Resturant.... and a couple of times at our resort resturant (Davey Crockett Ranch)... which was superb... especially as we had a suprise one day of Mickey and Robin Hood join us un-announced... made my daughters day that did!!
We also had a chracter breakko' at Walts' (lovely place).... all in all very enjoyable.
In the Parks - Cowboy Cookout is great for budget fast food (fare like Kentucky Fried Chicken) in a themed atmosphere. May be another fast food place, but authentic cowboy surroundings. They even have a live Country n Western band on stage at peak times, very Yee Haa!!
Another convenient and budget place Casey's Corner, top of main street, left hand side (facing castle) - very tasty huge hot-dogs.
In the village, can definitely agree that Annette's Diner is the place to go, especially at busy times, if you don't mind queuing. That's when you're most likely to catch the roller-skates/dancing routine - but sit downstairs, they don't go upstairs on skates!! :D
There's another place just along from Annettes, same side - I think it's called American Diner. Fairly small but good plentiful food and great icecream!
Plaza Gardens Restaurant - This one is a buffet style but the surroundings are really elegant. The food itself I found to be absolutely scrumptious, there was a set price of about 25 Euros (don't quote me, it's awhile ago now!) and there was so much to choose from. I would highly recommend this one!

A vote for Planet Hollywood especially if like us you have teenagers in tow.
We also enjoyed 2 great meals at the reastaurant at Davy Crockett ranch.
Also ate at the chinese rest at the Val D Europe shopping centre. Great value we will def eat there again.
In the parks it would be Blue Lagoon - great atmosphere and good food.
Our favourite in the Disney Village is Annettes Diner  the milkshakes there!
In the resorts the best meal we had was at the Manhatten restaurant in Hotel New York. Fabulous meal with top notch service and elegant, upscale ambience.

We didnt eat in the park when we were there in june but we ate in the village.
Didnt enjoy our planet hollywood experience. could have been a bad night for the kitchen but our order was always wrong or cold so we left pretty early.
enjoyed annettes diner and the rainforest cafe. the rainforest cafe is ideal if u have kids who like animals and if u get the table with the elephant make sure you watch where your drink is placed. mine was nearly knocked over frequently when the trunk came to life.
thoroughly enjoyed chef mickeys. the pizza was lovely, and the waiter excellent. and the characters were superb. if u want to meet and greet the characters then that is the place to be.
we've just booked another trip to dlp in a few weeks.
The dlp food guide give reviews of most of the restautants at DLP. We use this every time we go and also try and post when we get back.
You can see how up to date the reviews are and you can get some kind of feels of what the various places are like.

I have always been dissapointed with Planet Hollywood,m cold food wrong orders etc. Generally I am not very impressed with DLP food, but two pleaces that are good are Annette's Diner and also Innovatons in the Disneyland Hotel.
We are fans of King Ludwig's Castle in Disney Village. The Leberkase starter is fantastic. If you dine there between 3pm and 7pm one kid eats free for each adult.

We're probably going to be in the minority here but we found The Rainforest Cafe very disappointing compared to Florida and very expensive for what was a distinctly average pizza and burger meal!:( It has to be said though that the novelty value of eating in a Jungle with moving animals does make it a "must" especially with kids. Perhaps popping in for a drink and dessert would be a good plan.
We did however have a wonderful meal at the Auberge de Cendrillion(probably spelt that wrong! Otherwise known as Cinderella Restaurant!) and it only came to very slightly more than our mediocre one at RFC !!
This was for a 3 course top class French meal with really first rate food and we thought the atmosphere and surroundings charming.

The one I would avoid is Cafe Mickey,.
The one I would avoid is Cafe Mickey,.
Sorry but I'd have to disagree . BBQ Honey Pot is great and the character interaction was spot on . DD danced with Robin Hood + Tigger .

don't you just love those mickey lights - i couldnt stop looking at them the first time we went in cafe mickey.
i think its time i got my DLP video out to watch again.:d:
Just back on Saturday, ate in a couple of places.
Annettes Diner - food good, if a bit on the cool side, but service VERY, VERY SLOW!! There were 7 of us, we all had a main meal, except one who only wanted a dessert - but at the same time as the rest of us were eating.
Our meals duly arrived, but no sign of the dessert. We had to ask about FOUR times, the last time I'm afraid I was starting to get a bit annoyed.:(
What made it even more frustrating was that this was not at a peak time and lots of staff were hanging around chatting.
I found this generally throughout the Park, the french have no concept of quick, efficient service.
Plaza Gardens - think that's the right name, in the area before the castle, to the right at the end of Main Street. Booked a buffet one night through Town Hall for 6:30pm (serves this 11:00am - 7:00pm). €20 for adults, €10 for kids, covered starters, main course and desserts, drinks not included, except kids. Excellent choice, great food, very good value.
Although we didn't eat in the Hunter's Grill, Sequoia Lodge, their buffet at €25 looked very good as well.
I think the only thing Rain Forest has going for it is the theming, which appeals to the children. Otherwise it seems to be over-priced basic food, ie burgers, fish n chips, etc. When you think that fish n chips there costs €19 and you can get the whole works for €20 at Plaza Gardens, why would you bother? The later is a lovely restaurant AND you are still in the park, so you can go back to some 'gentler' rides after your meal, or do a bit of shopping in Main Street (they stay open for a long time after the Park closes at 8:00pm).

Hi
We enjoyed a gorgeous dinner at King Ludwigs Castle where the service was excellent particularly as we were difficult (my friend's ds has an egg allergy) and wanted to know what was in everything! (A further note on this is that DLP has 'allergy-friendly' menus in most of their restaurants including the ones in Disney Village - email them direct from website for more details and they'll send the menus right to you, the only problem is that the menus are not very attractive to kids)
We took advantage of the children eating free as we were 4 adults and 4 children so the meal we had was very good value for money! We reserved a table but we needn't have bothered as the restaurant was very quiet at 6pm - we have to eat early to accommodate my stroppy six year old!
We also had a lovely meal at Plaza Gardens where the desserts were to die for (I like my sweet stuff!) and again the service was excellent.

From our trip in OCt 2007.
Blue Lagoon
Very nice food and atmosphere. DH though this the best meal he'd ever had in a Disney restaurant! Good choices for the children and an average price compared to the UK.
Walts
Decided to eat our main meal at lunch time and this was really good. I had the Wheat Risotto with Scallops - one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Childrens meals were good too and excellent service.
Innoventions
A very expensive buffet and we got dire service here. Our waiter just kept disappearing. I pointed this out to him and didn't tip him. However the food was really well above normal buffet standard and with our free cocktails and 10% discount for having Dream passes we were not too unhappy. Next time we go we shall make sure we are hungrier!
Backlot Express
Tasty Croque Monsieurs and good value - better fare than the usual hot dogs and burgers offered elsewhere.
Lucky Nugget
Food was good. Where we were sitting the character interaction wasn't too great but otherwise we enjoyed it.
Cafe Mickey
We had dinner here and the food was nice (although portions a little small) and the characters were brilliant.
Hotel New York - Parkside Diner
We ate in here one night and the food was the best we had. The buffet was massive. Only problem was the boys saw the chocolate fountain on the way in so didn't like to eat much main course as they just wanted desert!

blue lagoon...
i had a lovely meal there on the last night of our trip in march 07. it cost abotu €120 for a family of 4 ( 2 adult 2 kids) all had starters and puddings and i had the lobster which was divine ( expecpt for dd moaning i was eating sebastian >oops< ) the atmosphere is fabby and the bread rolls kept dd and ds amused while we waited for service, not particularly fast service, but they were busy and it was a bit carribean - be ther ein a mo thype thing. we lovesd it and i have already booked my table to go back in march this year. best restaurant by far at dlp ( and we tried most of them)
anettes diner... we were a bit disappointed by this. we popped in at lunch time in the rainand it weas dead, we were the only people in there, we asked abotu the roller saking on tables but they said they didnt do that anymore ( health and safety would you beleive!) we had the challenge burgers about €16 each i think, you get 4 huge pattys, in a bun bigger than my head and if you eat it you get a free milkshake. the burger was ok but nothing special, but the milkshake... wow, now im not sure if it was just cos i had just consumed half a cow or if it really was that divine but boyhowdy id recommend you go there just for the milkshake :)

DH treated me to a lovely lunch at Walts
The service was superb, and the food was excellent. We ate from the fixed price menu, Starter and Main course for E25,00 or Starter, Main course and dessert for E29,00. Of course we plumped for the three course option. There was lots of choice and the kids menu seemed nice too.
Some piccies of our food (no mains as it was steak and potatoes)
Starter: consisted of foie gras, a tapenade of tomato and olive, and some seafood. The seafood was covered with a paper thin wafer of spun sugar (sounds yuck, but went divine!!)
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b182/Chelle27_/DSCF0137.jpg
Dessert 1: Gourmet chocolate dessert
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b182/Chelle27_/DSCF0146.jpg
Dessert 2:Apple crumble with apricot sorbet

Delicious!! I would recommend Walts without a moment's hesitation.

February 2008
Blue Lagoon
Nice atmosphere, charming service, but ALL the food was stone cold and fairly revolting. My youngest just could not understand the wierd dessert with the kids meal-take note, you can swap that for Icecream but you have to ask at the time of ordering. This meal cost us £80 for 2adults,2kids with no alcohol-poor value for not nice food. We wouldn't bother to book here again.
Cafe Mickey
Fantastic atmosphere, wonderful service, the characters were hilarious and around the whole time. I had fish and chips-the batter was more like a donut, very strange, and the chips ok. MY husband had steak and loved it,neither of the kids were over impressed (the youngest had Mickey Pizza and the older one a burger) but they both loved the dessert buffet! Around the same price of the lagoon meal-but more than worth it,we have some fab photos and the look on my youngest's face-I will treasure it forever!
Hot dogs in the park-highly recemended by my lads-I am veggie.
New York Style sandwiches in Disney village
-absolutely delicious and served with proper chips!
Cowboy cookout barbecue
My husband had half a chicken which he said was the nicest food he had in the 5 days. I had some soup as I was cold (I ended up in a wheelchair 5 days) and it was actually very nice and served with lovely little bread rolls. The kids had burger meals. The best value meal of our holiday which we all enjoyed.
Buffalo Bills
Very very odd to have to eat food you can't see as it was in total darkness!
My veggie chilli was ok,but the main was undercooked and very unpleasant.
My husband managed to eat about half of his and said he ate it only because he was hungry. The kids ate a little but didn't complain as they were so absorbed with the show.
The desserts were really nice, and our server was great with constant top ups of lovely cold beer and coke. Loved the evening-but not for the food!
Cafe Hyperion
Everyone was complaiing here that the food was cold, especially the chips.
Buzz Lighyears Pizza Planet restuarant
Although we have hated this in the past,we got caught out with 2 very hungry kids one afternoon and as the queues were building we decided to risk it. This time the food was much better, actually quite appertising.I had a fish burger which was very nice.
We obviously had other meals but I can't remember them!
All in all our experience of the food was much more positive this time-partly because we had taken advice from here about where to go and what to eat!

We also had the cake-fest in the Plaza gardens, we did the birthday tea for dd and it was great fun, lots of good character interactioin, a yummy cake and a soft toy Mickey for dd which sings happy birthday. Didn't bother with tea that night.
We liked both restaurants in the Sequoia Lodge- Hunters Grill and Beaver Creek tavern, pretty good value for the set menus. The bar snacks were also nice in the SL.
In the studios, we were pleasantly surprised by the Rendez Vous des Stars, as we were totally sick of dodgy burgers and frites, and this served proper food (think I had spag bol) canteen style at OK prices.
Pizzeria Bella Notte was also quite good, once again it was slightly more 'real food' and served pasta or pizza fast food style. Quick, hot and tasty.

Like others, enjoyed blue lagoon for food and atmosphere, sad that Annettes didn't do roller skating anymore, we actually enjoyed buffalo bill food and bbq food at cowboy cookout. We always have at least one meal in SL, lovely food, very good value in my opinion. Do like the sound of Walts, yummy.
On another note, I bought 4 hot dogs at one of the concessions in studios and although I used my best school french ( i do try) the guy tried to not give me the change - only a few cents but was very annoyed when I persisted. It was only then that I noticed he had pocketed the euro note I had given him and not put it through the till!! I couldn't be bothered complaining but i told dh and as we were leaving the survey guy asked us about food and dh told him, didn't hear anything else but watch out for this.
