View Full Version : the NEW DIBB Site - Help Req

Stu

Hi,
I am in full swing now re-writing all the DIBB web pages and fitting them into the new design.

I'm hoping to launch the new DIBB in the next couple of months but it's a major task as there are hundreds of pages that need updating, creating and re-designing.

Request for Help

If any of you would like to write an article for the new website then I would be grateful of any help.

If you can and would like to write an article then the article will be Fully credited to you with 'Written by.... ' at the top of the article page and you would be able to keep it updated if you so wish.

What I'm looking for is anything that you consider would be of benefit to our members and visitors planning to go to Disney, Orlando and Florida, DLP, DCA. etc.
• Information Pages
• Attraction or Resort Reviews
• Dining Reviews
• Disabilities
• WDW with todlers, babies, kids
• ??

We have the main themeparks and Disney Resorts covered, so are looking for other information sheets. It can be a few paragraphs or even few pages.

As an example have a look at this page by Trish
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/display.php?file=web/wedding.php
and this page by Carole
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/display.php?file=web/dining/diabetic.htm

So rather reading what I or others think you should read here's your chance to have your own words being read by thousands of others :)

• Articles to be sent to me as text documents, ie Notepad, Word, wordpad etc.

• Please do not just copy and paste from another site, obviously use other sites for ideas and inspiration but we wouldn't be able to accept a direct copy of the text from another site.

• If you are going to write an article then please post here with what you are going to write so that others do not duplicate articles.

List of Articles being written for the new site by members

Where Reviews are concerned we can use multiple reviews, so if someone is doing a review that you would also like to do then thats not a problem

If you change your mind, decide to write something less or something extra then just let me know and I'll edit the list.

What a great idea Stu! :D

I'd love to do a couple of articles if that's ok, on:

Hot Air Balloon Rides (I went with Bluewater but I'll include info on the other major ballooning companies in Florida)

Dining Review of the Rainforest Cafe at DTD

I'd love to do more if possible but I'll give everyone a chance to do what they want first :D

thanks guys they all sound great additions to the DIBB.

The Disney Cruise may be a big article Mandy, I must admit I know very little about cruises. So that would be an excellent addition to the DIBB

Time wise, obviously the quicker I get them the quicker I can add them to the new site and see what still needs doing but I'm designing a dynamic site so things can be added or edited very easily on the fly even when the site is live

Ideally within 4 weeks would be great, but if it takes longer then that is fine too. I'm just grateful for any help :D

BTW, if you see your posts being deleted from this thread, don't worry it's just me keeping this thread small after I've added you to the list in post 2

My sphere of expertise would probably be, Orlando without a car and I wouldn't mind writing something along those lines.
We do have this already, so if you could update and add to it. or totally rewrite it then that will be great - cheers.

I have completed Seaworld but not even started on DC yet so Reviews on Discovery Cove would be good too

Or Ponderosa, any shops/malls too.
I'd like to concentrate on Orlando and the other Disney/Universal/Seaworld parks at the moment.
I've added you as doing some Shopping articles if thats ok.

No, this is going to be an ongoing thing. Even when the new site goes live I'll be hoping that members will continue to contribute.

If they are for Disney Wide World of Sports then yes. We are just concentrating on Orlando and the Disney parks around the world at the moment.

I would love to write an article on visiting Captiva Island/Marco Island for those considering a two centre holiday.
Also a review of Royal Pacific Resort.

I'd love to contribute to visiting Orlando without a car, i'm a non driver so i always use public transport every time i'm over, i think i'm quite knowledgable on it! I could also attempt an article on Orlando nightlife for those people who are childless, or young adults wishing to sample some of the local nightlife.

Hi, I have put you down for a review of Royal Pacific Resort. The Islands sound great but at the moment I have to limit it to mainly the Orlando and Disney parks or I'll never get it live :D

Hi, Could I ask you to do something on Orlando Nightlife
The without a car has been done, I'm sure you could add to it but at the moment I'd prefer to keep one person to an article, it's easier for me to keep track then :)

This is all in addition to the forums, they will mainly continue as before. We are writing pages for all the attractions and dining facilities and it would be nice to add some of the reviews to the bottom of those pages. Some will be linked back to the forums for discussion etc.

The main thing I'm looking for here are Articles that can be transformed into a web page rather than reviews, but obviously I am grateful for reviews as they will be used in those web pages. If the review warrants it then it will probably be a page in it's own right.

My goal eventually is to have multiple user reviews for every attraction, resort and restaurant but that will be quite a way into the future.

Thanks again for those that have already submitted articles.
They have all been uploaded to the new site.

-Update-
The Main website theme has now been finalised and tested in IE, Firexox and Opera browsers.
I estimate that I've added about 20-30% of the web content.

Allie's (brilliant - I've read it) article doesn't cover US, IOA and Sea World. Would you like an addendum covering must-dos for the pre-schoolers here?
