in Orlando it is basketball, the Magics or something similar they are called. If you look further down in this forum you'll see my thread on a baseball match. It was fantastic and a great experience.

Basketball is not as popular as it used to be.

go see a football game or a baseball game.
Buy some hot dogs, popcorn, some cans of beer and cheer on
the teams!

We have booked via TCD for tickets to see Orlando Magics in December.. I fancied something a bit different and a taste of american sport!
Tickers cost £45 each i think,, but that does include transport to the venue.:light:

Pookster ,going off your countdown you go the week before us.

The football season will have ended but the Baseball season will just be beginning,in fact you may be there early enough to see a Spring Traing game at Disney World Wide Sport as this is where the Atlanta Braves train.
If you wait until after the World Series [beginning of November],the teams tend to put out a tentative shedule for the 2006 season, which generally starts at the very end of March/beginning of April.
Tickets tend to go on sale just after Christmas.
We managed to see a game last May between Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the one and only New York Yankees.
Cracking evenings entertainment and I could have sworn we were the only Brits there.
We are planning to see a game at Tampa while we are there.

Something that doesnt get a mention on the boards is Stock Car Racing.
There are loads of short oval tracks in Florida and as its our favourite sport in the UK we always make time to go to one of the US tracks and see the racing US style.
Be warned though, you WILL be the only Brits there and it is very much a sport which is attended by proper Florida locals and dare I say it "rednecks". Brilliant fun if motor racings your thing, just dont go dressed like a tourist, lol.

Wear a Budweiser baseball cap and you will be OK. :D

Hi Ken,hows things on the West Coast of Florida.
I dont think just a Bud baseball cap will do it, if the wearer is also wearing England football shirt, shorts and sneakers.

Pookster, the tentative schedule for 2006 is up on the Tampa Rays site.
Season starts April 3rd with a game againt Baltimore.
