beach day

hi everyone. my gf wants to go to the beach for the day. what is the best one to go to in your opinion? also how long to drive and whats there (ie. a pier bars resturants etc.) hope you can help. also if you think its not worth it let me know.

We love Clearwater - about 1 1/2 hour drive. Great boat trips - especially the Seascreamer - a very big speedboat that takes you dolphin watching! But there are so many beaches. The Gulf coast water is very warm, where as the Kennedy Space Centre/Daytona beach side is the Atlantic so that bit cooler!

I've asked before but haven't had a reply yet.... for a day out at the beach can you use some of the seafront hotels facilities (i.e food, showers, wash facilities etc)... someone told me that they had paid to park their car at a hotel (Holiday Inn) and got free usuage of all their bits & pieces??
