View Full Version : Clearwater
We have been toying with the idea of driving over to Clearwater next year from International Drive, has any body got an idea how long it will take.
What can we do when we get there?
Mole.... about 90 mins or so... well worth the drive in my eyes.

It takes about 1 1/2 hours but well worth it. Chill out on the beach, go fishing off the peir, eat at Crabby Bills fantastic seafood, catch the sunset celebrations on peir 60, basically after the parks its really nice to do nothing much and enjoy the beach. :D

I agree, you must go. Just before you enter the outskirts of clearwater there is a little tourist office (and toilet) stop off and get a blown up map of the area. A must do is the seascreamer, a huge speedboat that takes about 100 people. They guarantee dolphins each trip. The boat creates such a wave at the back of the boat the dolpins jump in and out of the water about 8 - 15 feet from the stern.

I loved clear water and the beach is well worth the drive. It took us around an hour and a half and it was a fairly easy drive....i say go for it!
Claire.
We went on the Clearwater Screamer and it was fantastic, we had loads of dolphins at the back.
Also the beach at Clearwater is beautiful, lovely soft sand and warm water.

I went at Easter for the day, with the intention of going on the seascreamer, unfortunately they were taking the day off, just my luck. I would therefore phone and check thats its open if you intend to take a trip on the seascreamer.

Toying with the idea of staying overnight in Clearwater for the Pier 60 Sunset entertainment. Anybody been there, done that? Good hotels, bad hotels?
Also, we are looking at fishing off the pier rather than paying a coupe of hundred £ to go out on a boat - the Pier 60 people tell me it is less than $15 to rent equipment and get a permit! Has anybody else done this before - I can't justify £200 for four hours fishing on a boat to be honest.

we are to visit clearwater and then go to a base ball game in the evening and make a long day of it
the sea screamer sounds cool will fit it in if we can
the baseball write ups on here are really good

Hi Adam. My DH went out on a boat fishing last October in Clearwater and it's not as expensive as you think. The boats may advertise the price as say $500 a trip but that'll be split amongst however many they can get maybe 6 or 10. I honestly can't remember how much DH was but I'll ask him when he gets in. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and they all caught lots of fish - Spanish Mackerel I recall. What to do is go along the marina and see what is available as the boats all want to go out with maximum numbers so you could probably pick and chose which boat you want to go on. PM me if you have any questions.

My DH bought a fishing rod and floats etc in Walmart for about $20, he then bought the bait at Peir 60 and spent a lovely day fishing while we played on the beach. He managed to catch some very interesting fish too.
