We're off on the 6th October and are planning a chill out day at Clearwater.

We really fancy the sea screamer (having heard such fun reviews from this site). Is this something I can book before I go, or do I have to book in Orlando.....or do you just turn up?

Thanks in advance.

In May 2004 we just turned up.

IIRC we got our tickets about 10am, but the first trip wasn't until 11am, so we went for a cup of coffee.

When we came back, a few minutes before the trip was due to start, it was busy but not crowded. I don't recall them turning anybody away.

This really is a big boat. It is quite difficult to find anywhere to take a sensible photo of it.

It's huge - the biggest speedboat in the world with twin V12 turbo diesel engines. I think you can book in advance but we just turned up on the day and reserved seats for later. Try their website.

Certainly a highlight of our holiday, and coming back they go at half speed and the dolphins come in to play in the bow wave - brilliant !

Highly recommended - and Clearwater is lovely.

Looks cool - would it be suitable for a 2 year old or is it too fast?

Looks fantastic fun!! Do you know who much the ride/trip costs per person - and how long are you out for?

It's fab, i'm considering going to Clearwater for the day just so i can do it again! *lol*

I think the trip lasts about 1 and half hours, it's not that expensive, around $20, i think? We got our tickets included in a day trip coach tour we did there.

Can you remember how long it took to get to Clearwater from the Orlando area?

Seascreamer looks great fun, think we might have to add it to the 'to do' list:D

Takes about 1 1/2 hours on a clear run. Seascreamer is well worth it. I took my daughter on when she was 3 and she was fine. The boat does go fast, but perfectly okay I would say for a 2 year old!

I think it's about a 2-3 hour drive. Not too bad! It's well the worth the drive. :D

I went twice in June, I'd say 2hr max to drive there sticking to the speed limits....Top tip. On approaching the outer limits of the city there is a tourist information centre (toilets) on the right hand side (just by a set of traffic lights) You'll get a free blown up map of the area. Head straight into clearwater until you come to a mini round about. Take the last exit (turning back on yourself then 1st right and park in the marina car park. Nip over to the seascreamer kiosk, buy your ticket and they will also sell you a half day pass for your car to save you paying for parking.

The boat trip was great and they guarantee you dolphins. On our second trip we had a spot of bother finding them so we sped up and down the coast till we eventually got them, must have taken about 2hrs. It's not too bumpy so the kids will be fine. Depending what side you sit at you may get a bit wet.

Sit at the very rear of the boat for the dolphin show - they will jump in and out of the wake.

We went on the Seascreamer on 5th Oct. last year. When we arrived in Clearwater I left DH and kids on the beach and went to book the ride. No crowds for seascreamer or on the beach and the weather was beautiful. A great time to go:D

Just a word of warning though......although we were really hot on the beach, etc. we all got a bit cool on the ride and DD was a bit miserable (she is nesh:D ) so it may be an idea to take a jumper along for the ride.

The Seascreamer trip is a great way to spend an hour. Me and eldest DS loved it last year and he has already requested that we go on it again next year.

On the Google Earth site, you can see the big yellow boat in the marina at Clearwater.

We booked the Clearwater trip through the Virgin welcome meeting and we had a buffet meal in Hilton Hotel before going out on the boat we really enjoyed it especially when the dolphins came to play.

Would definately go there again.

I am going with Thomson, anyone know if you can book a trip that includes transport (from Pop Century) to Clearwater.

Don't forget to take a hat/ cover up + plenty os sun cream. We forgot it and it was VERY hoy and the kids got quite burnt just in that 1 hr we were on it! Great trip though especially to see the dolphins so close. We went to Carbby Bills for lunch after which was really good.

We went on it in July and it was brilliant. We went with Virgin and it was a 2 hour coach trip (almost 4 on the way back because we bumped into hurricane Dennis!!) and we had lunch at the Hilton and time on the beach before going on the Seascreamer at 2pm for an hour and we had loads of dolphins following us.
It was £40 per adult and £35 children aged 3-12.
After we got off it we went on the beach but had a thunderstorm, so we looked at the shops till the coach took us back at 5pm.

Actually I think we paid approx $90 for our family of 6 of us(2 ad +4 kids) in August for the Sea Screamer so not a bad price.

If you want to stay dry sit at the front of the boat if you sit right at the back like we did you will get soaked . :D :D :D

We have just got back from Florida and one of the highlights of our trip was the seascreamer.
Even managed to film some of the dolphins on my digital camera which has turned out really well.
For a better idea take a lokk at my video.

I am trying to figure out whether this would be suitable for your children - they are 2yr 4 months and 12 months. Is it very noisy - would it be too dangerous for the little one?
With thanks

Abi 113 - The area where you sit inside the boat is quite safe and you have to sit down while going out into the main part of the sea where you see the dolphins, so I guess as long as they will sit still it is ok. It is quite blowy and does terrible things to your hair!! But I don't think it would be frightening for young ones.It is just a fast speed boat that's a lot of fun.:jump:

Thanks Alison . I think we will try it - me and DP thought about taking the older one of twice and one staying back with Arabella but we would really all enjoy it together ! She is actaually a fan or wind blowing in her hair - she is only happy when your sprinting pushing the pram so her hair is everywhere! LOL

We sat at the back but we didn't get soaked. We sat there to get the best views of the dolphins.
There was a boy of about 2 opposite us and he just laughed the whole time and his face was a picture when he saw the dolphins.
