We wondered if its worth a visit for a day. It looks really nice on the internet but a recommendation would be far nicer.

thanks

It looks great, doesnt it? I especially like the fact that it is so historic and is the oldest city in the USA. I have emailed a company that arrange day trips in the Orlando/Florida area and they said that they are considering it.
I would love to do the ghost tour.

hi
have been to st augustines, it is well worth a day trip. there are guided trolley tours round the town which you can get on and off when you like. the narration is very good. if you wish you buy a booklet of walking tours and take your self round. we have done this as well - gave us more chance to dawdle and look at things closely. if you wlk down the main street there is a wonderfol cafe called "the bunnery" they have wonderful homecakes etc. had a warm cinnamon roll with hot icing poured over it!!

I used to stop over there on my drive to Orlando.

It is a lovely place and well worth a visit.

There are historic walking tours or trolley bus tours to take.
Nice little shops, etc.

Relaxing to sit at the waterfront.

Near some very good outlet stores too.

I would highly recommend St. Augustine.

I went on a web site for the area and they also have some wonderful sounding shops including "Poochies paradise" and a choc shop so that sold it for me really lol

We went there last Easter for the weekend and stayed for 2 nights in the Casa Monica which was lovely. I think you would need more than a day to see everything you would want to see and there are numerous hotels and guesthouses all within walking distance of the town centre. It's lovely to be able to walk around town and not have to get in the car every time you want to do something or go somewhere. We had the trolley ride, a boat trip, a tour round the fort and the oldest schoolhouse as well as walks up St Georges St and we also had some lovely meals. The A1A alehouse we can recommend for a nice lunch sitting up on the balcony overlooking the water. People were very friendly and we watched the Easter parade. DD was invited up to one of the stalls to have an Easter prize since she had "come so far" to visit - she got a frisbee and was thrilled! Chatted to people from Georgia who had entered their dog in the prettiest pooch contest!!! Drove back to Orlando down the coast via Daytona.

A great weekend and would highly recommend St Augustine.

We spent 3 days there in 2004.
I think to really do it justice you’ll need to do more than just a day visit. I would recommend at least 2 days. There’s so much to see and do, from the fountain of youth to the free :D wine tasting at the San Sebastian Winery.

Can you visit the lighthouse. Only ask as it's supposed to be haunted and wouldn't mind a look.
