as long as your dvd is multiregion...unusual not to be these days..
Most DVD's will play region 1 (USA) discs, some play them as default, others need to be hacked.
Hacking them is generally easy, just push a sequence of buttons on the handset which will take you to an Installers menu where you can set the DVD to play discs from ANY region. The hacks can be found on many Internet sites, just put in the make and model of your DVD and see if a hack is available.
Here is a link for one of the better DVD Hack sites. http://www.dvdhacks.co.uk/
I also get USA DVD's from play.com (the region 1 site, there is a link on their standard site) prices are good and postage is free :D
