Hi, all

I was wondering if anyone had already tried one of the BASS fishing excursions at WDW.
DH and I, we love to fish but as these excursions are a little too expensive and short, we were wondering if itīs worth spending the money.
Any help would be highly apppreciated. Thanks!

Hi & welcome!

we took a fishing trip on bay lake a few years ago and have one booked for October.

You are right they are expensive but you will catch quite a few bass! The price now includes refreshments and the views are great. Our last boat was fishing next to the wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian.

If you only have a few hours spare between parks its worth it , and its actually long enough as you catch so much.

Hello to all fellow fishermen (or fisherwomen).

I have not been on this board in over six months. I should check here more often because this is a great bulletin board.

About fishing at WDW, I can only tell you from personal experience. I fished for many years at WDW while vacationing there and then I retired and moved to Florida. I have some of my fondest memories of my WDW vacations while fishing there with my son. Back then Disney did not have organized fishing excursions as they do now and I marched through their manicured flowers and shrubs and trecked down paths, that I was probably not supposed to go to as a guest but I never got caught, and caught fish all over Disney. I do not think they would tolerate you doing that now because there is an organized fishing program. When I was on vacation in the most recent years I hired a guide at Disney and caught some large fish and had a splended time. After I moved to the Disney area I took a job as a Captain at Boggy Creek Airboats for a couple of years and one day I found out there was an opening at WDW for a fishing guide position so I applied. A wonderful thing happened, I was hired as a guide and now I get to make magic for other people on vacation at WDW. Yes it is a little expensive but some families share the cost with another family that they know and the price can be more tolerable. You can have up to five people on the boat at once for the same price and all the tackle, bait, drinks (water and soft drinks) are included. Since you are on private property at WDW you do not need to purchase a fishing license either. There can be some tough days fishing at WDW, just like anyplace else, but we usuall do well. It is great to meet all the people from all over the world when they come to WDW and they usually are in such great moods to be there on vacation having fun.

Yes, I still Captain the boat at Boggy Creek Airboats because that is so much fun but now I split my time between there and WDW. Fishing is my passion so say hello if you see me fishing with the mouse. I hope this did not sound like an advertisement I am just trying to pass on my personal experiences and some behind the scenes information. If you are interested in fishing at WDW just ask at the resort of your front desk or call 407-WDW-BASS.

If you can't stretch to the cost of Disney fishing, Lake Toho in Kissimmee is good for fishing. there are lots of guides who will pick you up from your hotel or villa and drop you back there later.
Pick up some of the free coupon books when you arrive and you'll see lots of ads and money off coupons.
Hope you catch a big one!

If you decide to go to Lake Toho there is a fishing guide there you should consider. I have never fished with him however, I see him there frequently and he always has people on fish. He is also a nice person to be in the boat with all day and that is important to me. His business card says his cell phone is 407-719-0215. If you call him tell him Captain Gerry sent you. I am sure he knows me. He is the one I would call if I were booking a trip.

Have a great fishing trip,
Captain Gerry
