Hi Mona,
Try your local Libary for the lastest holiday guild. The book will tell you of loads to do tings plus where else to do Dolphin swimming. We do DC every time plus hire boat @ clearwater to go swim in the gulf coast. really great. But Takes a while for dolphins to arrive & not allways guarenteed.

Disney do a Dolphin Encounter at Epcot, we're hoping to do this next year.
Check the Disney main site and search for 'tours'. I have usually got all the info but my main PC is dead at the moment and it has all my saved sits and info.

The Dolphin tour last 3 hours, no swiming but you can sit at the side and interact in 2 gruops of 4 people.
cost is about $150.

Try looking at 'clareH' trip reports she did the tour last year I think.

Mark......
Of course we are swimming with the Manatees the saturday after we arrive.....at Crystal River !!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait.....we are soooo excited..:jump: :jump: :jump:

Just being greedy.....and thought we 'd do everything we've ever dreamed about and swim with Dolphins as well ......

If we'd win the Lottery I'd be at DC....but it is just too expensive with everything else we are trying to do !!!

Yea....maybe next time, if we are not bankrupt...:wink

If it helps you can feed and touch the dolphins at Seaworld, it's from the edge of a wall but you can touch them, not the same I know but still fun.

You won't regret the manatee day out.

......yes, that's good enough for now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that ,Mark

One more question though about the Manatees...
Are you allowed to touch them ???
I read somewhere that you did not do it right, if your nails are not covered in green sludge afterwards.....
but somewhere else I heard....as they are wild they are not to be touched ??????

My friend swam with Manatees at Crystal River and told us that you cannot approach them, you have to wait for them to come to you as they are a protected species.

However he said it was a truly magical experience, its something I would love to do myself.

Have a wonderful time, I look forward to hearing about it when you return...

Yes they are in the wild and you can use one hand to touch them, you have to scratch them with your nails, yes we were told that 'if you ain't got green slime under your nails you ain't doin it right'.
When you start scratching they love it and start rolling around, if they don'y want to play, we were told they swim off very fast but this never happened.
I forgot to tell you mona we also saw dolphins swimming in Crystal river that day.

I would also get everyone practising with snorkles and goggles before you go in a swimming pool, it takse a bit of getting used to.
