Hope someone can help. I've been trying to figure out the situation re sales tax on short term rentals. I know that a villa agency based in Fla. adds on 13% to its quoted prices. What happens when a UK owner rents to a UK tenant privately but the villa is still managed by a US company? Do you still have to charge sales tax? Does the management company still calculate it and pay it over to the government? Is it included in quoted rates?
Thanks for your help

We have rented from a UK based owner and the prices were quoted as 'including taxes'.
Don't know if this helps?

I was thinking about from the owners point of view. Need to know how much tax they have to pay over.

.All homes attract the state tax of 6% then there is a discretionary tax added by the county but collected by the state then on top of that there is county tourist tax which will vary -making the total anything between 10-13% of each booking that has to be paid whoever rents it - UK or other nationality the taxes are due to the state of Florida and the county .How the tax is paid over depends on how much the owner does for themselves .We do all ours - other let their man co do the tax returns each month .Asfor is it included -again each owner will have their own system of quoting

Yes it's the same if you stay in a hotel they add the tax on whatever your nationality and where you live. It used to catch me out in the shops to!
