Going for one or two days in December, first time in about 15 years!

What should be at the top of my list, London Eye? Tate? House of Commons tour?

Plus what sorts of prices should i expect.

Bring all your credit cards and make sure you have lots of room on them, London is very expensive! The London Eye is good if you have a clear day, otherwise it's a waste of money. One place i alway recommend is the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, we have a Japanese girl working with us at the moment on work experience and she went on my advice last weekend and loved it. It's a great afternoon out for adults and kids alike. Also try to catch a West End show, 'A Few Good Men' is great, as is 'The Rat Pack Tribute'. Have a walk around Covent Garden, but watch out for pickpockets, i work in that area and it happens a lot.

Have fun, London is a great city as long as you are prepared! :D

How about buckingham palace, Regents/hyde park, trafalgar square, 10 downing street, houses of parliment, baker street and covent garden? Plus many of the museums in London now are free...I can reccommend the national portrait gallery and the natural history museum as my favs. Cabs are extremly expensive in london so get a travel card and use the busses and tube.
you will have a great time London has an atmosphere like no other, its expensive to stay eat and drink though so yes bring the plastic! Have fun!

The House of Commons tour is well worth doing. You get to go everywhere and meet some MP's along the way.

Totally disagree, London does not have to be and is not expensive. Museums are free, London eye have been doing two for one. Kens new office has open days for free (well worth a look). Many places to eat for £5.00 buffet,Pub by trafalgar square does 2 meals for £7.50 Convent garden free. Hop on Hop river cruise under £5 (with travel card) for all day. Belfast is a good visit The list goes on. It is the same as Disney- plan ahead and a great time can be had at low cost. Check out expedia for accomodation. Yes there are pick pockets, but they can be in any town or city, Lots of police in the city and I feel as safe as anywhere especially in the tourist areas. And one of the best things to do is just sit and people watch better than any Zoo!!! If you want anymore ideas let me know.

Desperate - I was just giving them a heads up about the pickpockets, so they know to be aware of them. I work right opposite Covent Garden Marketplace, and i know a few of the stallholders there, and you wouldn't believe how many times people get caught out! They actually give an announcement out over the tannoy every so often reminding people to be aware of their surroundings and belongings. Obviously we all know this can happen almost anywhere, but some people tend to let their own personal security lapse when they are on holiday.

Also, if you actually lived in London, you might think differently regarding how expensive, or non expensive it is! I've lived here all my life and whenever i go outside of London, i'm amazed at how much more we actually pay for stuff!

Fair comments and I bow to you experience of living in London I was not trying to stirr anyone up. Regards the cost the questions was regards visiting London which can be done cheap and not living in London which agreed is expensive.

Ps I have lived in London and do know the costs as I spend a lot of time there

I agrre with both camps London can be expensive if you do Tussauds, Tower of London, London Eye, Tour Bus etc etc have been checking Thistle hotels auction site and there auction site has some good prices, travel inn/lodge have London sites. Museums are in the main free. Theatre Tickets from the ticket booth in Leicester Square or via their website which has some special offers on certain shows.
