Any ideas for a short break next weekend. DH and me and DS aged 8 and maybe DS 17! (hopefully not though!).
Dont mind if it is a cottage or hotel, pref in the countryside.
Were considering Derbyshire so if anyone can reccommend any accomm there???? but open to suggestions really.

Loch Lomond.

Easy access to Glasgow (they have a stunning science centre with IMAX and planetarium), not too far to Ediburgh for Castle, museum and Dynamic Earth centre.

Visitor centre at Loch Lomond, plenty to see and do in the area.

Maybe a bit far, you don't have a location though so I can't tell.

In Balloch there are loads of lovely B&B's, or you could try the Bridge Inn which is a Fayre Inn (I think).
