Anyone been on the Snow Train to the French Alps?

We are thinking of going in February and have no idea where to look to go? Anyone reccommend a good resport?

We are debating weather to go Snowtrain or Easyjet but dont know how near to the resorts you can land and how you transfer to resorts.

Any help would be very appreciated

All depends what you're looking for - how many in your party are beginners/intermediates/experts, any non-skiiers, what type of apres ski, (and for anyone flying - where do you want to fly from/into) etc. etc.

There are some fabulous French ski resorts.

Let me have and idea of the above and I'll put my thinking hat on:D

Hi James,

Ahh, a thread on one of my fave topics, ie skiing!! Not sure I'll be much help though.... We have skiied at Alpe D'Huez, Courcheval, Flaine, Les Arcs 1800 and Val Thorens (plus one or two other resorts in Switzerland/Italy). As stated above, it depends on what you want, and what your party is like amongst other things. For example, if you have chidren then Flaine is a good family resort. If you like a chic resort and nightlife then Courcheval 1800 is good. It is also a good all-rounder for skiers of all levels. If you want to be sure of decent snow then head for Val Thorens because it's the highest resort in the Alps, also good for snowboarders, as is Les Arcs I think.
Have never been on the Snow train, but have friends who have been on Eurostar (is that the Snowtrain??) to go skiing. They travelled to either Moutier or Bourgs St Maurice I believe, and then caught connections (not sure what) to the resort. They did this journey several times when staying in a chalet in La Tania (below Courcheval). We have always driven to the Alps, but must say have fancied trying the train as our friends have seemed to like it in the past (but they always travel First Class, how the other half lives!)
Apart from the resorts I have mentionned there are many other great ones, you will be spoilt for choice, but not all of them will be served by the Snow Train so you'll need to do some more homework on that front.
Anyway, happy planning!!
