View Full Version : Tips for Epcot
Hi Guys,
I'm looking for any tips you may have for Epcot to add to the New DIBB website.
If you have any tips for Epcot, Attractions, Rides, Restaurants, the World showcase, etc and you would like to see them on the website then please post them here.
Cheers.
:D World Showcase….
My favourite place for strolling and chilling… the perfect antidote to the mad pace of the other parks at peak times. We use the WS to unwind, and to take advantage of the superb entertainment provided by performers at the different Pavilions… my tip is to get a copy of the daily entertainment schedule (comes with the park map at the entrance or stores) and plan your wander around the World Showcase lagoon (approx 1.25 miles) to incorporate as many of the different shows as possible, thus ensuring that you will spend around 20-25 minutes of each hour resting or sitting with a coffee or other beverage of choice!;)
The entertainment includes Chinese Acrobats, Rock n Roll bagpipes (the superb ‘Off Kilter’ at Canada… much better than you’d ever imagine!), mimes, stunning vocalists and assorted bands, Japanese Drummers (my favourite) and much much more…
Let your younger kids make the masks at the Kidcot tables at each pavilion.. you’ll get another chance to rest up or take a drink.

If you have children that like characters make sure you are ready and waiting for the character bus to arrive. The characters don't stay long:( You can also ask the CM where a particular character will be.
Another tip for Epcot is don't forget to look behind the UK area as Pooh and friends hang out there in the gardens. I think there is a maze there too.

When trying to find a good place to watch the fireworks - if your back is up to it, that is - there's an area around the lake (don't know what it's called but it is directly facing "America" on the map). This area is kept empty until last minute and just before the fireworks begin they remove the ropes and if you are quick you can get to sit on the floor up front and watch the show without any interference from trees, etc, as the show is centred on "America".

In Future World the biggest attractions Mission Space and Soarin' are on opposite sides of the park. It is a good idea to get one of your party to go and grab Fastpasses for one then all go and ride the other one.
Visit World Showcase in the daytime and evening if you can. It takes on a whole new dimension after dark.
Don't miss Illuminations each evening at 9pm. You can get a great view while you dine from the patio at the Rose & Crown.
Each country in World Showcase has a pressed penny to collect and several more machines are situated at the International Gateway.
For those who are not sure about riding Mission Space, you can stay with the riders in your party right through the queue area and enjoy all the exhibits there. Tell the CM at the preshow that you do not wish to ride and they will direct you to the chicken exit right before the loading area. There are some cool games to play while waiting for the others to complete their mission to Mars.

Get you kids a "word showcase passport" as you enter the park then visit each country and have them stamp it and write something in the local language. When you have collected all the stamps tell the CM in the last country and you'll get a prize

If you have kids make the time to visit "Talk Time" with Crush at the Living Seas this is a great interactive show

Take 2 days for Epcot, we did one day for World Showcase which meant a later start in the morning as it only opens at 11.00am and another day at Future World. It is just not possible to do all of Epcot justice in one day and many new visitors spend most of the day at Future World only to find themselves halfway around World Showcase at closing time (well I did the first two times we visited anyway...)

Definately take some time to chill on an evening at the WS, this was one of our favourite things to do on a nightime. Have a tmeal at one of the fantastic retaurants around world showcase then grab a drink and relax and watch illuminations...Perfect!

Great places to eat include Marrakesh, the table service restaurant in France and Akershus (at least when they did there buffet which I believe may be returning).. Good fast food at the Mexican pavilion too. Don't overlook the Coral Reef Restaurant in the Seas pavilion, a great treat and lots to look at.
if you are just heading for World Showcase you can park at Boardwalk and come in through the International Gateway. This gives you a quick exit after the fireworks and a chance to try the eating places in the Boardwalk too!
Good coffee and danish at the Coffee place by the fountain and also the cart by the American Experience Pavilion.
Is there a bit too much about eating in this post!!!!!????

Sorry to be dumb but where is boardwalk? Sounds like a good plan to park there. Do you have to pay to park there?

We walk around EPCOT every week and sometimes a couple of times, especially when the excellent festivals are taking place. When planning a holiday remember these annual events:
International Food and Wine Festival from early October thru mid November.
This is a great event…sample some food from all around the world at WS, we enjoy the daily wine seminars (FREE) and (FREE) beer sampling in England and at the American pavilion. If you are inclined the special events of vertical wine tastings, “Eat to the Beat….this is a dinner and then priority seating at the evening concert at the American Pavilion (sometimes we go just to hear the different bands…next week The Beach Boys are here)
Holidays Around the World. Begins the day after Thanksgiving ( the 4th Thursday in November) until the first of January . If you have not been to this event…please try and schedule a holiday around this time of year because EPCOT becomes a very magical place….you can not image the sights, sounds and beauty…and then you have the Christmas Choir…it is an amazing performance….a must see and experience…this has become a family event and it will get you into the holiday spirit.
International Flower and Garden Festival.
Another wonderful time to visit EPCOT…so many free demonstrations and the place is beautiful….is from mid April to mid June ( I think the best time is by mid May).
One of our favorite places to see the nightly fireworks is at the Italian Pavilion. Try and get the table closest to the lake (just under the Tower) and if you plan it right you can see the fireworks at EPCOT and in the distance you will also see the MK fireworks…and the music is great …
Hope this is a help.

For a great, uninterupted view of Illuminations, head for Canada and go up the stairs towards the shopping area. You can see the whole lagoon from there with no trees to spoil the view.

Takes a good day to do the World Showcase and another to the rest. Character's can be found on the showcase in unlikely places such Pooh bear in the uK gardens, Beasy in the French perfume shop etc.
If you are going to leave a legacy do it in the evening as there are no queues.
Japan is great for jewellery and relatively cheap too. If you hang around they often have traditional crafts on which can mean free toys for the kids.
Food Food Food for one (Bistro du France last week in the eve was AWESOME) (Full Report to come when I adjust time zones)
Test Track at night secondly
People always seem to ignore the Fountain
In Epcot single line qs and FP can have you reriding rides all day
The entertainment in the worldshowcase is worth stopping, sitting down and chilling out to, these people are professionals...
Food and wine festival.. when I finish the vid trip report youll see how chilling an event this can be (and not a lager lout in sight)
I was surprised and delighted by the choir in the american pavilion, very touching and beautifully presented, make sure you grab a good spot around the right hand side of the atrium as you go in as they always sing to that direction...
Low Crowd World Showcase Tips:
If you arrive via the front entrance, try to time it so you are at World Showcase for 11am near the English pavillion, and then walk counter-clockwise round the lake.
Less crowds.
You can also arrive at the Yaught/Beach Club or Boardwalk, and then enjoy a breakfast at either and then catch the boat to the International Gateway which spills into the England area for 11am as well.
