Hi we are going for the 4th time in Jan and have never been in the horror make up show but plan to this time. We have a ds aged 7 would he be ok in here and what's it actually like.

It's very funny but does involve lots of fake blood and pretend cutting of limbs! Our DS was 7 when he saw it and had no problems at all. I think you need to gauge how sensitive your son is to that sort of stuff.

My youngest was 7 when she went and thoroughly enjoyed it. As LBD says, it is very very funny and involves fake blood, pretend cutting of limbs and daft, 'scary' old horror movies.

I'm sure most kids would love this....it's one of the best shows to go see...and often overlooked by people..

It's absolutely brilliant. See it if you have time.
I'm sure your son will enjoy this show, its no worse than they see in video games. A lot of fake blood and gory make-up.

The gory bits in the show are done with a lot of humour so should be fine for all ages unless the sight of fake blood (lots) and limbs being cut off upsets them. We thought the show was great fun and it had been updated since our previous visit.

AS I've said on another thread recently my DD - who was 4 but had ridden Splash, Big Thunder, Test Track, MIB, BTTF, Jaws etc etc etc during the trip - absolutely FREAKED when they 'cut' the guests arm! I think I underestimated her ability to seperate fact from fiction! I think it was because it was a real person TBH!

Every child is different though - as I say my DD rode every ride we threw at her and was really disappointed she couldn't do the Hulk....but this was just TOOOO much for her!

I avoided seeing this show on 2 trips because I'm squeamish. After reading a trip report I saw it for the first time this year. It was so funny I had tears rolling down my face. I did have to shut my eyes at one point (cutting the arm off) but I'm so glad I saw it.

I think most 7 year olds would cope with it, but as said before only you know your son.

I love this and there is quite a "jumpy" bit at the end (no spoiler intended) but I think this is one of the funniest shows around. There is quite a bit of fake blood and very bad jokes!!

It's a great show, I agree with loadsafairydust, the gore and goo are dome with humour so in no way scary

This is our favourite Universal show. We only went in to get out of the cold in January and we had a great time. There were loads of children ijn there and they seemed to be having a good time as well.

Thanks for your replies. I am sure my sons (I have another one who is 12) will love it as they both like things which are gory.

If you have any doubts, get there a bit early and make sure you sit across the far side so you can get up and leave easily.

We have just done this show today and I must say it brought tears to my eyes with laughing. It is such a funny show and the gory bits are well mixed in with humour so they dont appear too bad. There were plenty kids there at our show and some even younger than 7. I would say, dont sit too near the front and as already said, go right across the theatre so you can leave if you needed too but I would say you will enjoy it.

We went to see this last week and wasnt expecting it to be as good as it was! It was the funniest show we have seen.

Warning slight spoiler next...

They picked out a Japanese lady from the audience who couldnt speak a word of english then pretended to chop off her arm. Her face was a picture! She had no clue what was going to happen to her even though they expained everything in english to her beforehand. Was a little heartless I thought but still she seemed to find it funny! Poor lass.

Been going to Universal for years and never saw it as I really dislike shows but new wife wanted to see it last time and it was very funny.

Even though it's gory, it's not done to scare - it's all comedy and I imagine, most kids would be fine with it. I'm VERY squeemish and can't watch anything with blood in it normally, but this was fine and a lot of fun.

Ww only went in to see this show to kill a bit of time. On all the previous occasions that we have been to Universal we thought it wasn't worth wasting our time, but how wrong we were!!! This has to be one of Universal's treasures. Not to be missed whatever age you are.
