safari in kenya

has anyone been,was it good.what parks did you go too

Not been to Kenya, but we go to South Africa on Safari most years and all I can say is amazing, amazing, amazing. :D

In fact it is my all time favourite place and I'll say this quietly - "it's better than Disneyworld" but that's just my honest opinion

Went to Kenya a few years ago. Had a great time, we stayed in Mombasa in a hotel called Whitesands along the beach. Was really nice.

However when you land, dont get worried, as the airport and Mombasa is a culture shock. Its third world as you can imagine. When we left the airport we had a taxi to our hotel and it really makes you think about what you have in life when you go through the towns.

Oh and you will love the condition of the roads and the way they drive, i really did one day think my number was up lol lol

As for the Safari they are great, i always forget the park we went to, but it was great, very tiring but amazing and i really mean that.

We left at 3am for the safari, it took 5 hours to get the the reserve, then it was another 8hrs around the safari before we got to our hotel, which was amazing. It was on stilts and had a watering hole. At night we would creep down and watch the wild elephants infront of us take a drink of water, we was literally feet away from them, to this day it has to be one of the most amazing experiences i have ever had.

On the whole, Kenya, the safari is amazing, we will go back as soon as the little one is older to enjoy that kind of thing. The people in the hotels was great and so so friendly, infact as friendly as saying "do you need a butler in the uk" lol

The beaches are also great and clean, but you might get hassled from locals asking you to buy stuff, but after 30 mins they finally walk away and leave you alone lol.

We went to Kenya in 1999 in fact that's where my husband proposed to me! It was a wonderful holiday and I would love to do it again. Doing a proper safari certainly puts things like the Jungle Cruise & safari at Animal Kingdom to shame - Disney is great but this is the REAL thing! We stayed in a hotel near Mombasa, think it was called Southern Dunes, and I can't remember which safari parks we went to. YOu will have a fab time I'm sure.

I stayed at the Nyali Beach hotel just outside Mombasa and we went out to the Shimba Hills reserve for a day & a night - wow - it was great - stayed in a awesome tree house over a watering hole - there are great walk ways through the trees with a bar in a tree! Elephants etc came to the watering hole during the evening and we went out on safari at dawn.

Mombasa airport - I remember that well!!! and there is terrible poverty - but it was worth the experience :D

thanks for replys.were really looking forward to it now.
tried booking mombasa 3 nights,safari 3 nights mombasa 3nights.
but couldnt get the flights in may
so were flying to nairobi for a day and night,then its 5 days of game drives staying in diffrent lodges in the evenings.
