Looks like a trip to DLP at Easter is definitely on the cards! A few days, enough to do the park is definitely in the pipeline, just so long as I can get a good deal for the four of us.

I have had warnings that the place is nothing like as good as our dear cuddly WDW. But, I can never expect anywhere to be as good as WDW. Can I please have all your bad experiences so I know what I am letting myself in for!

Go with an open mind and try hard not to compare as you may find DLP comes of worst (although I feel POTC is better in France). Only bad things we encountered were smokers in the queues blatently ignoring the requests not to light up; the fact that most of the stuff is in french with the odd bit of english (not that it detracts) and the people who visit are not necessarly the friendliest people on earth but you could get that anywhere. Oh and some of the CMs need lessons in smiling and being full of the joys of spring around children.

It's hard not to compare with the 'real thing ' Zoe.....but all in all ..it's a great place to spend a few days...just stand your ground with the French ...don't let them barge in front of you....

Its great for a quick fix - We are going just before Christmas and I can't wait!! The only thing that gets thumbs down for me is the smokiness of the parks and in some ride queues! I wish they would make the place completely smoke free (sorry all you smokers out there) but it really bugs me that my children have to breathe in other people’s nasties!

Other than that I think it’s a great place – I’m staying at the Holiday Inn and I really can’t wait!!

I have heard about the smoking problems, it must be really bad! Friends of ours went a year or two ago and said the queues for autographs were a shambles with kids barging, other kids in tears and CMs not bothering to help out or organise a system. Luckily none of us are worried about autographs.

I read somewhere that they have just started organising the queues for the characters...hope so!!

Never been lucky enough to get to WDW yet so only have DLRP to comment on .
Cost - Food can be expensive and the Christmas shopping is going to cripple me but it is Disney .
Queues - Never been barged or jumped , don't be put off even if you are as there are lots of CMs about to help .
Smoking - In 5 days there only smelt it once and that was in the gents !
Size - Easy to navigate both parks and everything is reachable in 20 mins max , great with a 5yr old + DW expecting Lordy No.2 !

We see DLRP as a dry run for WDW when DD ( + bump ) are bigger .

The french have no idea how to queue. When the characters come up it is like a free for all.

When we visited in Sep there were definite queues for some of the Charcacters ie Disney Princesses , Winnie the Pooh in DP and Mickey in Studios park.

We loved our visit and it is so much closer than travelling to Florida (we have DD-3).

I like the fact you can walk everywhere . The only bus we went on was the VEA shuttle.

We didn't have much bother with people smoking and would have cast some dirty looks if we did (DD is asthmatic)

The CM's were friendly just a bit more reserved than those at WDW but I think that is a cultural difference and not a negative.

The downside for me was my lack of french I had enough to be pleasant but would have felt more comfortable being able to say more.It would have also helped in some of the rides ie Phantom Manor , History of Disney Animation.

dont worry - you'll have a great time.:D

my advice for you would be spend the first day getting to know your way around the park taking careful note of the rides with fast pass (i know there's alot to take in but study the maps) and then the next day send your fastest runner armed with all your tickets and get fass passes at all the rides while you wait for them in frontierland. in DLP you can get a FP for each of the rides without having to wait for your previous one to expire (only 1 for each ride though at a time)

you should be fine in studios - no comparison if you've been to florida - def a work in progress in my opinion.

saying that (and i'll whisper it) i actually enjoy DLP as much as WDW especially at xmas

have fun :jump:
