4*+ on the strip with a good view, PREF with a balcony and a unique attraction. I like rollercoasters. Thinking of NewYorkNewYork, the Stratosphere or The Venice one.

The stratoshpere is also quite a way out on the main strip in a slightly rougher area and is only a 3* standard I wouldnt recomended staying there just go for the amazing rides it has. The rooms are not in the tower by the way but next to it.
We stayed in the Luxor which was amazing, our room was just above the Sphinx'x head and looked out over the desert. It is at the bottom of the strip and has a mono rail stop which takes you to the mandalay bay. It also seemed to be the best value for money of the 4* hotels - Venetian was v.expensive.
I dont think any of the hotels have balconies though.
when I go again :D
I would like to stay in the New York, which as you probably already know has a great rollercoaster well worth going on. It doesnt matter where you stay though as you can go in into any hotel and use their attractions.
weve stayed at the aladdin ,which was quite a good choice and had reasonable rooms ,was mid strip which was handy ,paris next door to aladdin is lovely get a room at the front and watch the bellagio fountains at night .none of the hotels on the strip have balconys as far as i know.agree about stratosphere ,not a very nice part of town ,although its really cheap lol

Hi there
We stayed in the Aladdin a few weeks back - if you click my camera icon, I have posted a few piccies. Also you may want to check in TripAdvisor for more info where I posted a lovely review with piccies. Under dates 30th Sep to 6th Oct, TripAdvisor from Fleet - that's me! TripAdvisor also have a Forum where you can ask questions, look up Vegas and there will be review, forums, hotel links, piccies etc.
I don't think any hotels have a balcony that I saw - would be pretty noisy!
Aladdin is a 4 star hotel - mid-strip - location could not be better - right opposite the Bellagio and next to Paris. Planet Hollywood are taking the hotel over, but for now there is no disturbance or disruption and everything is Arabian themed. Plus points of the Aladdin are:
Location
integrated shopping mall with 130 shops and restaurants
24/7 Starbucks
nice casino
Featured and highly rated restaurants include: PF Changs (Chinese) and the Spice Market Buffet - both tried and rated.
You may also want to do a search of 'Vegas' on this forum as there are loads of threads which may be of help??
If you are into buffets you MUST visit the newly opened Wynn Hotel - absolutely wonderful. Mirage Buffet is also good and worth a trip. In fact, the Mirage is also mid-strip and looks lovely, my Mum stayed there in March and said it was great.
Hope you have a wonderful time wherever you decide to go - I loved Vegas and can't wait to go back.
Happy planning.......

We stayed at the Stratosphere in September, cheap as chips (no pun intended) but it's a wee bit far out, even with a car it means someone has to drive and not drink, dunno if that would be an issue really.
The Rollercoaster at the Stratosphere is really tame, but there are two new rides that scared the willies out of me, basically because they dangle you over the side.
The Sahara has a NASCAR themed coaster, which although is quite small, is actually a lot of fun. The New York one is pretty rough, so hang on tight and prepare to get your ears boxed.
If you want the ultimate thrill ride in Vegas, you want to do this - http://www.aerobaticexperience.com if you do, tell Craig we said hi :D

We have stayed in New York New York and the Luxor, both excellent hotels.
I would say that NY NY was probably slightly my favourite as the bars etc were better suited to gf & my ages (28/26). Check out the Coyote Ugly bar in NY NY, we had great fun in there. Gf said the coaster there was great, but i'll take her word for it!!

We have been looking at the hard rock hotel has anyone stayed here. I know its 1 mile off strip but we dont mind the walk. Appartently its a good celeb spot. Had a look at the swimming pool and it looks amazing!
Stayed in the Excalibur opposite NY NY and would love to stay in NY NY. Stratosphere didn't do it for me sorry. The Bellagio was my DD's fave, a really top class hotel. Vegas is fab.

Stayed at the Sahara, (a bit out of the way) and the Imperial Palace, which is smack in the centre of the Strip opposite Mirage, Ceasars Palace etc... Very reasonably priced too and fabulous Steak and eggs after midnight for 5 dollars!!

bellagio with fountain view...wow, its posh
luxor is amazing, good value, but don't sty in a pyrimid room
ask for one of the new towers....this is afriendlier hotel, long walk to strip though
monte carlo..prettystandard as far as rooms go but very good value and one of the few hotels that feel a little relaxed and easy to find your way around.
hope that helps.
next year we are trying out the new ceasars tower.
bye the way its one hell of a walk to strip from hardrock

i think they're may be only one thing for it!
Stay in a 2-3 different hotels
Hard Rock
Bellagio
NYNY
3 nights in each
Has anyone stayed at the Grand Canyon? Are there hotels with grand canyon views. We were just going to do a day trip but the skywalk will be open so may need 2 days
NEXT STOP - LA
if you wanna push the boat out we stayed at THE HOTEL at mandalay bay this time, what a fantastic hotel , separate from mandalay bay and all suites .we had a corner suite ,views down the strip and over the airport ,3 plasma screen tellys was lovely and the most comfortable bed weve ever slept in

The Hard Rock is, as others have said, a bit of a distance from the strip if you aren't driving, it is, however, geared towards the young party crowd, as is The Palms, [check out the Ghost Bar, where Britney infamously celebrated her 55 hour wedding!]. But for some serious celeb spotting, you can't go wrong with the Bellagio, The Four Seasons and The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. You could also consider the newest Las Vegas hotel, Wynn Las Vegas... Ferrari showrooms, designer shopping, this hotel requires serious dosh!

We've been 3 times and always stayed at the Bellagio. If it's affordable to you, then it's one of the best on the strip (on a par with the Venetian, but more central). Great location, great view if you can get a fountain vierw room (a must in my view for day and night time spectacular views of the strip and of course the fountain show). Lots of mixed price restaurants, beautiful and colourful lobby and entrance (especially to the main dining 24 hr restaurant), oh yes, and a few slots and tables!! Highly reccommended.

Stayed at the Luxor a number of years ago and loved it.
It was fun going in the elevator to the room - the one's that kind of move inwards and upwards!

Las Vegas is on Holiday, tonight BBC1 7.00pm.
I love Vegas. When we went we stayed at the Venetian (we were even given a free upgrade to a high roller suite! We are so not high rollers!) and the New York New York. We chose those as they were at oposite ends of the main part of the strip and I love coasters too (the Manhatten express is a good coaster.) We walked to the Stratosphere which was quite a walk up the strip, I didn't like the location. I loved the Venetian hotel, great location and great theaming. Next time though I want to stay in the Bellagio as I loved the location and theaming of that hotel too.
