Hi,

I am off to Sharm in November with my wife for a bit of sun

I know it is famed for diving which I plan to do a bit of snorkelling while I am there. Just wondered if anyone has been and what else is there to do ?

I dont think Disneyland Egypt is built yet :p:

I am staying at the Sonnesta club near Nama Bay if that helps !

thankyou for any replies

we are going in April to movenpick in naama bay - we plan to take a boat trip to ras-mohammed national park, you can also go to st catherines monastery and to watch the sunset in a traditional bedouin camp(sp)

Hi Fozzie,
I was in Sharm last Nov and had a great time. Like you have already mentioned, the snorkelling is fantastic and can (if you let it) take up a lot of your time, but there are also many other excursions on offer.

Ras Mohammed is indeed a great place to visit, and although I did not go myself I believe it is very much a snorkelling based place to visit - I heard great reviews from fellow travellers though and wished I had done it!

There will also be excrions offered to both Luxor and cairo, and although they will be long days (and expensive if you go for the air option), I would highly recommend Luxor. Having been there twice before on holiday and staying in Luxor, I find it an awesome place with loads to do incl Valley of Kings, Temples etc (I could go on all day about the place - I love it).

Evening time you should head out to Naama bay, but be prepared to get a little harassed when walking around - its the Egyptians nature! Great places to eat include Hard Rock Cafe, Tandoori Indian Restaurant (located by Camel Bar - another great place to try) but I would give the Mexican a miss!!!!! There are also many fantastic fish restaurants but if you want a really good Thai meal, then I would book early for the one at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. We were staying there and heard everyone rave about the place (even our rep recommended it to all her other guests not staying there), but unfortunately I was ill on the night we were due to go and it was fully booked for the rest of the week :-(

Please note though that if you intend to visit anywhere (including Ras Mohammed) other than stay in Naama Bay/Sharm, you will need to get a visa from the airport when you arrive - your TA should be able to tell you all the details.

You will have a great time as the place is great, and please PM me if you want to know anything else :-)
