The mugs in the hotels are not barcoded but have the names of the hotel on them. They can only be used in your hotel and not in the theme parks or water parks. The theme parks do not run a re fillable mug system but the waterparks do as you already know :cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

We have one mug in the water park and it is good value for money. We have also bought refillable mugs in Universal and they worked out good value. Disney don't offer refillable mugs in their theme parks

Disney theme parks definately don't offer refillable mugs, but Universal do - of a sort - in that you buy an expensive themed cup and it allows a number of free refills.
Disney only offer the mugs at resort hotels and they can only be used in that location, or at the Water Parks, which uses a barcode and only works for that day. The disney mugs are definately good value for money though, especially if you are smart and use one or two mugs for your whole family.

With the Disney Waterpark mugs, you can take your mug back to either water park on another day and pay $6 and have a new bar code stuck on and use it all day, rather than buy a new one. We bought one a BB in April and used it at TL in August. Taking same mug back at New Year. Tight or stingey maybe, but hey, every penny counts (especially with the amount that my kids drink!) ;)

The Universal cups are good value if you plan a few visits. We bought our cup on the first day then brought it with us whenever we went to Universal Studios or IOA. The refills weren't free they were something like $1.10 but it was a huge cup.
