Hi Folks i'm sure there is somebody out there who could answer a little question for me.

I have just had a thought i recall on a previous visit to wdw we went to the river country water park. I take it that it doesn't exsist anymore or is it being revamped there is no reference to it anymore. Just interested to see what the position was.

Thanks

Hi Gaynor
It closed several years ago, as far as I know it's been fenced off now and there are no plans for revamping it.

i closed a few years ago, a real shame because it was a fantastic place. The reason given was that the water was becoming very costly to keep clean, as it was part of the great lagoon so really it was just pond water . I loved it there and if you take the boat ride to the wdw resorts you can just see the site of river country through the trees, it's abandoned, not even been demolished, it looks a very sad sight now, shall we start a petition to have it re-opened

Such a shame :(
We only got to go there once and thought it was lovely.
Sad to see it just rotting away.

Lots of rumours about this place (including a possible rebuild as a pirate-themed water park) are out there. Who knows what will happen...

Hmmm, I should really stop reading 2001 guide books I think. I won't think places like this still exist then!
:confused2

I miss River Country  we went there on our first trip and it was lovely, you can catch a glimpse of it if you take the boat from MK to Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness, so sad.

I really wanted to go there too, but they shut it before I got there   first visit wasn't until 2003 - guess I shouldn't have read a 2000 guide before we went!!!

It would be nice if they could re-vamp it.
