We booked a standard villa allocated on arrival for our pre christmas hol in Dec 05 with TCD, Without pool heating, big mistake, :confused2 we got exactley what we paid for. Standard no frills accommodation and a pool we couldnt use cause it was too cold.
Even if we had paid for pool heating apparently it would have been no good anyway as it was electric heating and that is not a good option if the weather is cold.
All TCD villas are based around the 192 in kissimmee which is no big deal if you have a car, absolute nightmare if not. :(
The villa rentals of standard and executive are very different. Standard are the older villas with basic decor, tired and well used, but have everything you need. The executives tend to be a better class of home.
saving grace was that walmart was 10 mins away:grin:
next trip will definatley include executive with gas pool heating

we had a [AOA] standard villa with tcd last August.
after a awful start to our holiday a 25 hour delay and
terrible customer service from tcd we arrived at our
villa with great trepidation but we were stunned at
the great quality of the villa ours was in the clearcreek
area we had booked a 3 bedroomed villa and were
allocated a 5 bedroom one. I am not a tcd fan but
the villa was by far the best part of the dealings
we had with them.

Allocation on arrival always fills me with dread after a bad experience years ago. I think it can go two ways...........

The villa will probably be ok but there again it might not. Unfortunately because TCD (and some of the others) pay peanuts to home owners they do not usually get the best places. In fact most owners who care about their homes would never dream of letting them to people like TCD.
People who have had great homes from these travel companies usually just haven't seen the better homes that are out there. Many are more than fantastic.
Don't worry about the pool heating you will not need it.

Had a couple of villas from TCD - in 2004 we booked a 3 bed executive villa and specified Calabay Parc - we ended up in a 4 bed villa and the villa itself was excellent.
Last year we booked a 4 bed executive villa from the 1 of 8 choice and ended up in a 4 bed villa in Town Centre (which wasnt one of the 1 of 8) with a tiny pool. It was awful, we complained and got moved to a new subdivision off Woodridge which was very nice.
This year we have booked through TCD but specified Calabay Parc again. They have charged us a few quid extra to specify the subdivision though - but given the experience at Town Centre its money well spent !!
Cheers

As I have stated before I am not a fan of tcd but the home we had
from tcd was FANTASTIC and yes I have seen some of the BETTER
homes out there and it matched some of them.

we stayed in an executive villa AOA with TCD last december, the area we were in was Glenbrook, north on the 27. Villa and area was excellent. Only problem we had was the pool heating did not work but this was sorted after one phone call.

Hi
We were allocated a standard villa on the "Southern Dunes" complex on US 27.
Great villa but a long way from all the action.
Didn't know you could ask for a particular area with TCD, any idea how much extra they charge for that?

Paul,
TCD charged us £50 per week extra to choose the subdivision - so not cheap - but removes the doubt about where you will be staying at least as we found that 1 of 8 actually means more like 1 of 16 you've never heard of :d:
Cheers
Rick
