Now, I know Florida has some great places to eat. Could anyone give us some healthy food choices - we want to do all the norm, however, due to me being on Weight Watchers, and my ds going crazy on too much junk food we would like to have some healthy places as well.

We are planning to have breakfast in our room and most days take food/water to the parks so it is mostly our food in the evening.

Many thanks for any help.

I really wouldn't worry too much, I ate whatever I wanted but didn't go too mad and with all the walking in the parks I lost a pound, and this was over three weeks. I would just enjoy being on holiday and not worry about what your eating as its all part of the Orlando experience.

I think that there are some great options in WDW whether you are talking table service or counter. Of the ones we have done last time Boma and Akershus have lots of healthy items on the menu. Have a look at this site and go through the menus and you will see what I mean.

Sure, quite a few of the fast food counter service venus do fires, burgers etc, but even they have introduced healthy options.Im looking forward to trying the Sunshine Seasons counter service at Epcot as well as Tangerine Cafe in the World Showcase.
There are lots of other options available.

All the buffet restaurants have salad bars and healthy choices, it isn't hard to choose a more healthy option. Even McDonalds does a good range of salads and wraps, much better choices than you get here. We especially liked Sweet Tomatoes for a change from junk food, they serve salads, lovely soups and bakery items, all very fresh and great value.
In the parks you will find plenty of fresh fruit to snack on and you will be walking so much it isn't hard to maintain your weight. Personally, I like to forget about what I eat when I'm there as there is so much to tempt you.

Sweet Tomatoes on I-Drive - check it out, lovely salads, soups, yoghurt icecreams as much as you can eat at great prices - mind you I have never seen some diners plates so high in my life, but if its green can't be bad!!!

Margaret- the sunshine seasons place had some gorgeous food on its menu, it all looked very fresh and tasty.

We did find that some of the counter service places were quite restricted in that it was mainly junk food, but if you look there are some places that have side salads and carrot sticks instead of fries, and they are doing quite a few wraps also now. Table service meals are no problem though as they are pretty well balanced healthy meals on the menu for the most part.

Try Seasons 52 for healthier eating. There's one at Mall Of Millenia and their website is www.seasons52.com
We haven't tried it yet but it looks nice.

There's a Seasons 52 in Plaza Venezia (next to the Publix) on West Sand Lake Road. There's also a Panera Bread there too - yummy.

Definitely go to Sweet Tomatoes on the corner of I-Drive and Kirkman Rd.

i wouldn't worry too much hun, just be sensible and stay off the desserts - mind you the portion sizes are so big you won't have room LOL. we stayed for 3 weeks and i didn't deprive myself of anything and i only put a 1lb on, having said that if i hadn't had any donuts (see pic on left) i might have lost a few lb's;) ;)

Quite a few of the chains - IHOP, Denny's, Subway etc have gotten on the healthy eating bandwagon - certainly at IHOP I ate several salads to die for! I've been following South Beach (a low GI Diet) and they even have low GI ready meals in Goodings etc. It was not a problem - Disney and Universal also did meals that I could eat without guilt, although we did struggle more at Seaworld/Busch Gardens as we couldn't go in the Hospitality Suite as Robyn was 16 - they do the healthiest options there!

I'm in the same boat as you Chowes having been doing Slimming World for the last 8 months or so. I think I am going to try & be as good as I possibly can with what is available but I will be having the occasional dessert & I am sure with all the walking we'll be doing as long as I don't go over board then I will be fine.
I think you need to decide realistically how much weight you could put on during the course of your holiday & accept that as your weight gain before you go. Then if you get home & you haven't put that on it will be a bonus.
