I'm so excited - check out my countdown!! I know it's not Disney but hey I'm still excited and so looking forward to doing nothing for 2 weeks, which is a change from rushing around theme parks! We are staying in the 5 star Melia Caribe Tropical on the East Coast. Does anyone know what trips you can do from that area in case we get bored of sitting around in luxury? Am I rubbing it in enough lol??!!

Sounds lovely! I have a friend at work who goes to Dom Rep every year and just adores it. You've not long to wait either.

We are off there in June, and plan to do the Sonoa Island trip. They take you to a deserted island by speedboat, wine and dine you, then bring you back by catamaran. Take a look at www.tripadvisor.com , they have a lot of reviews and forums. Have a great time....Look at my countdown...:( :(

We are going in July for the first time.
As the driver for the 4th time in Florida, I am looking forward to the rest !!! ;)

Hey!

We went to the Dom Rep in Sept 2004. It's fantastic! We did quite a few trips - ended up doing most with a company just down the road from our hotel - because Airtours kept letting us down....cancelling the day before our trips....turned out we missed the one we wanted to do the most (Island Soana, you fly to a secluded island....) because not enough people were booked on! Probably because the company down the road was alot cheaper & just as good, but still...

I'd definitely recommend

- Outback Safari's
- Catamaran trip
- Trip to the waterfalls (fantastic, be prepared to get bashed about though, lol!)

We stayed just outside Cabarete.

If you do a search, you'll find loads of info about trips you can do.

Have fun - the Dom Rep is lovely!

We did the Monster Jeep safari when we was there. You go to a village to see how the other half live. Just incredible
