We plan to take a trip for a night away from Orlando, and are looking for a good beach ideally with shells (DD 4 loves collecting them).

Are there any suitable beaches around Sarasota (DH thinks Naples and Sanibel will be too far for the kids.

Any suggestions welcome

Many thanks

Hi Helen

I was thinking of doing the same thing this time, we are thinking of going to Sanibel or Captiva.

Hi,
Go to Madeira Beach, Gulf Coat, I collect lots of lovely big shells last time we were there, he fishes, I collect shells, or you can go to Johns Pass and go on a charter boat (great) to Shell Island. You can view Johns Pass on the web.
Nearly had excess baggage with the shells collected, my daughter has a shop selling Tropical Fish she pinched them all off me:( :( . Have a great holiday.

Hi there Tinkershell and Ann

Thanks for the replies.

Ann, Madeira Beach sounds great (and I managed to find it on the map DH will be impressed!)

By the way, this map was in a pack of stuff from the Visit Florida website this morning (and I only ordered it on Monday). It contains quite a useful brochure all about the various areas of Florida.

Any more suggestions anyone?

Best Wishes
