We are planning to go in April next year. There are conflicting reports weather wise, I think we should expect it to rain for an hour a day or so.

Any one been and have any info or advice?

you are just heading into the rainy season, best time to got is Nov - Feb. But you'll have a great time. If you can do it, try and stay in the Datai..... it is to die for, you really are treated like royalty but the staff are not pushy....

Thanks, think we'll have to risk the weather. We are looking at the Datai.

Hi Anna,

We love Langkawi and have visited it 4 times, twice in may and twice in nov/dec.

Always had excellent weather except for Nov 2005, when it rained a bit, but it didn't spoil our holiday. Apparently the rainy season had been late in starting, so was running later than usual.

The 4 times we have been to Langkawi we have stayed at the Datai, can't fault it at all, and couldn't imagine going to Langkawi and not going to the Datai. As Val said the staff are attentive without being intrusive.

I have also been to KL 5 times and have typed up some info for some friends. If you want a copy just drop me a PM.

Happy travels

Have a lovley trip Malaysia is great. I went to Sabah and did the Orangatang Sanctuary and it is something that I shall remember forever. I lived in Brunei for a while and we used to visit Malaysia most weekends, the Renaissance is a nice upmarket chain as such out there and can recommend that.
