Wondered if anyone has been to kissimee old town for the day?
We willbe staying at The Port Orleans and fancied catching a taxi to there for the day.
Is it worth it?
Has anyone got a taxi from central WDW to old town?
if so how much would it cost?
We wanted to go on the classic car night!!!

is it Friday and Saturday for the Classic car cruise or have i remebered that wrong? Also i'd go to old town in an evening as i think lit up it looks more appealing. You can get some brilliant t-shirts there.

Hi, We haven't got a taxi from WDW to old town - however it maybe cheaper to get the bus to Downtown Disney then a bus to old town.

We loved the car cruises at the weekend and you could also visit celebration whilst your there - as there is a trolley which takes you from the end of celebration road on the 192 into celebration town you could get something to eat there also and then go to the car cruise later on.

It reminds me of Blackpool on a Saturday night complete with beer swilling brits everywhere ...

Been quite funny to see Old Town change over the years. Gone from redneck Americans to big bellied Brits wearing football shirts.
Last year we were amazed to see drunks and druggies sat outside the shops with no security in sight.

Here's the site for Old Town,
http://www.old-town.com/

I haven't been there yet but we planning to go there after Celebration one day on our trip in August.
We will not be using a car.
Our plan is to use a Lynx Bus from the Disney transportation centre to Celebration. It's a No56.
See here:
http://www.golynx.com/routes.cfm
the No56 also stops at Old Town too.

On the way back we are planning to catch a cab.

The cars are on Fridays and Saturdays.

Saturdays are old classics and Fridays are newer cars.

Have to say Old Town is one of my favourite places especially on a Saturday night. The cars are great, the atmosphere is great and there is no comparison to Blackpool at all. I wouldnt take my kids to Blackpool at anytime over a weekend.
As for beer swilling Brits, I can't agree. Most of the drinkers I have seen were Americans or Canadians.

We went several times on our last holiday - brilliant. Something there for everyone. They have bikes on a Thursday night and you must try Checkers for a cheeseburger - ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!

Bought a great t shirt there saying "I HAVE GOT A LIFE I BOUGHT IT ON EBAY!!"

There isn't much to do during the day, but in an evening the place comes to life and is great. I can't see that I have seen any drunks or druggies either!

We go to old town when we go over and we love it on a saturday night when the car show is on, however we do go when the show isn't on to and still love it. The atmosphere is great. If you wan't a drink you can have one but we don't. Everyone is friendly but i have to say that if you want a less busier night just don't go saturday night. Not seen any drunks or druggies either.

We went in September - thought it would kill a bit of time on way to the airport. I would say don't bother. It is a dive. Worse than Blackpool on a Saturday night. Seriously - give it a miss

Old Town looks a bit of a dump during the light of day but in the evening its well worth a visit especially on a Friday or Saturday.

We have gone quite a few times to the Saturday night cruise, great old American cars, never seen people drinking in the streets, might be wrong but I thought it was illigal, never once saw drugs or people stoned on drugs, so reading some of the above threads, must be two Old Towns !!!

I think that the time of year you go determines the number of drunks around as I've been there in February, March, April, June and October and never experienced drunks. I've seen people drinking and the brown paper bags but there is a reason for this - someone explained it to me, but I've forgotten what it is - something to do with the law. Even on Thursdays when the bikers are in, I've never seen 'drunks' - just people chilling out & having a drink. There is usualy live music at the bottom end which is quite entertaining, especially when the line-dancing groups try and get the holidaymakers to join in. Since the Mercad closed, I cannot think of anywere else to go for some live music, dancing, eating and shopping. Just my observations.

It's must see, some great shops and an amusement place for everyone. We were staying at AKL and got a taxi straight to it, not expensive.

We always go, it is a bit tacky but there are some good shops something for everyone and Damons restaurants (the chicken wings are brill) and there's a few good rides. I wouldn't discount it, worth seeing.

The Old Town is well worth a visit, especially on a Friday/Saturday night.

I've yet to see a drunk or drugged up person there and I've been to Orlando 10 years running at different times of the year and visited The Old Town at least 2 evenings on each holiday, so maybe I've been incredibly lucky.

BTW I heard its against the law to walk around with alcohol in Orlando, hence the reason people cover their bottles with brown paper bags.

Hmmm, Im with the other's here who have never seen any drunks there in the many times we have visited.
We always go for the car cruise and as stated it can be quiet during the day, but if you fancy a nice slow stroll round the shops to while away an hour or so it's worth a visit during the day.

Regards......Ted
