Has anyone stayed in either?
Sorry have not stayed in either but looked at both for sep this year, the new frontier seemed the better deal ,hope you get some replies as would be interested to read them.:)

New Frontier is the Strip side of The Stardust - The Sahara is the downtown side of Circus Circus. Which is a very poor way of saying the New Frontier is closer to Centre Strip, much better situation.
As in all the properties at the North end of The Strip (Sahara, CC, Stardust, Riviera, Frontier etc) they're all pretty much of a muchness. Unless anyone reports poorly on the Frontier, I'd suggest it's the better property purely for location.
Have you tried to see the price for the Imperial Palace? It can often be as low as the price you're saying but is right in the mmiddle of the Centre Strip action. If it's only slightly more expensive, I'd suggest it's a far better deal and will save you money not having to catch buses and taxis (which you'll inevitably do staying North Strip).
Both are on the strip but not central, we stayed in Excalibur which was fairly cheap but is next to the Luxor and opposite MGM and New York. Personally I would prefer to stay in the heart of the action in Vegas.

I've never heard of the New Frontier but we did visit the Sahara briefly when we were in Vegas, the communal areas seemed clean and well kept, can't comment on the rooms tho. It is quite far north end of the Strip, but the monorail stops there so you can use that to get you into the heart of the Strip, journey time is around 10 minutes, and it's pretty reasonably priced.

Vegas is a hell of a long way to go just to find your out on a limb 20 mins walk from the bright light and the action, for the sake of maybe $20 or $30 more you might get right in the centre of things,Sahara is miles out.
Hi we stayed at the Sahara for 1 week December 04, we found the Hotel to be excellent value. The rooms were very clean and the staff very friendly. You can catch the monorail or get a taxi to the centre strip for about $10, we did walk a couple of times but it was very cold when we were there. The Frontier is a great location, right at the side of the shopping mall if you enjoy shopping!:wavey:

We stayed at the Sahara 2ys ago, i wouldnt recommend it though as its to far from the strip, if your going to be using the monorail all the time it will get a bit pricey.
The walk down to the strip is a bit seedy too, past all this waste ground, and vegas can be dodgy in some places, so stay right in the middle of the strip if you can, just off the strip there is some excellent priced hotels, my dh is in the forces and stays in them when they go to the airforce base out there, if you want me to find out the best one pls pm me and i will oblige.
Good luck whatever you choose.
We looked at the sahara, but went onto The Luxors website and have got a pyramid room for $89 a night.

I agree with other posters who have stayed at the Sahara - It's a long walk from the main drag of The Strip and the area it's in isn't quite as nice as the other end. Having said that we had a lovely stay there, but, I'd chose a nearer hotel if I went back.
Have fun! :)
