A lot of ticket sites seem to want you to put in the dates of when you will be using the tickets - both for disney and universal. Is there a reason for this - do the ticket they send only start from the specified date? Or is it so they know how quickly to send the tickets out? Im not going till october but want to ensure that my tickets come with a few weeks of order so I know I have got them and not be waiting months for them to send them out.

Sometimes tickets will only be valid till a certain time.

Usually though they ask for a date so that they can hold of sending your tickets until just before you leave.

I'm sure a good chunk of the ticket companies profits must come from interest earned on customers money.

Hi, It depends who you order from. Some companies will send them out straight away while others like to put your money to work for them and send your tickets out when it's time for you to go.
If they ask when you are travelling just tell them a month prior to when you are really going and then you'll have a while to sort things out should you encounter a problem,

Generally it's so they can send the tickets out just a week before. We usually give a date a month before, for this trip I said 1st Feb and our tickets arrived this morning.

We bought ours and put down our departure date, the do come in time but like the message above the companies are making your money work for them. Our's weren't dated (flexi tickets) and we were in a bit of a panic if they were going to show up. People have said before that you put down a different departure date so you've got them in plenty of time.

when i used attraction tickets direct they sent them out straight away, but theme park tickets send them out 14 - 21 days before departure, so i fibbed about our departure date, saying may instead of sept. i like to have them in my sweaty hand so i can examine them a thousand times to make sure they are genuine, and to avoid any last minute panicking of them not coming in time.

If you are worried give them a call and say you would prefer to have them sooner. A reputable company will try to do as you ask.
