What do you mean by cheap? At the moment Thomas Cook are doing direct flights for between £500-£600 with Qantas. I'm going in Sept, and for a direct flight it's coming out as £780 for a flight into Melbourne and out of Sydney. If you are adding stop-overs you are probably looking at between £800-£900 if you are stopping over in the Far East, but over £1000 if you are looking to stopover in the States. Have a look on Expedia, Thomas Cook, and Qantas websites to compare prices. :)

£199 return cheap enough? Available now here http://www.austravel.com/perth its a charter.

If that's too grim you can upgrade to PE for £149 extra each way.

Alternatively if you want to push the boat out, check out http://routeplanner.travelbag.co.uk for the "Great Escapade" Round The World options.

What a fantastic price! We are hoping to go for the cricket in Dec/Jan and can't wait for the prices to become available to see if we can afford it! Sadly those flights are just to late :(

Its a Charter - it used to be Britannia Airways but I believe they have changed name now to Thomsonfly.

The bad news is that as its a charter, they only fly Dec/Jan/Feb - the Australian summer season. In Sept you will be looking at scheduled flights....

We used Austravel and flew Malaysian Airways to Adelaide it was in October and cost approx £750 each, Malaysian is a great airline to fly with and if you go on their website you can get bargains if your flexable on when your travelling.

were flying quantas, in may into Brisbane out of Cairns, and got a good price. The only thing to bare in mind when booking is, if you do a flight only with no accmadation or car hire, you have to pay the FULL amount at booking, this applied to BA as well as quantas.

Yes Ste thats what we did, 13 hours to Kuala lumpur :( on a 747 long long flight if I were to do it again I would have a stop off in Kuala Lumur as there is a 7 hour wait for the connection to Adelaide the flight to Adelaide is 7 hours nice flight on a 777 they are much better planes than the 747s.
Adelaide Airport is new its ultra modern it only opened in October.
Anything else you need to know PM me :)

can recommend Emirates, usually includes a stopover in Dubia included in the price.Have also used BA and Quantas and was very dissapointed in BA last time, we were abandoned in Hong Kong without a so much as a care from anyone from BA.(never again).

I'm planning to fly LON - MEL, then fly Virgin Blue to Sydney. Then fly SYD - HONG KONG - LON. Qantas have given me a quote of £759 for Sept 06. Which isn't too bad, i think. I've looked around and that is one of the cheapest scheduled fares available one the route i want to fly. I've already saved the cash for it, so i'm prepared to pay the full wack when i book!

How was your jet lag after the flight from London? I was going to do a stopover for 1 night in Singapore, but it's an extra £200 on the flight if i do that, so i'm doing straight through now to Melbourne, and wondering if you have any ideas to cut down on the jet lag?

Who are you flying with Tracie and where do you stop on the way to Melbourne?
If your stopping in Singapore to change planes you can book in the transit hotel which is air side, its not expensive they are booked in 6 hour blocks so you can have a little sleep and a shower, I would do this when I go again.

I haven't actually booked a flight yet, as i'm just waiting for a friend who i'm meeting there to confirm dates, but the cheapest quote i've gotten is with Qantas, and it would only be a 2 hour layover in Hong Kong on the way to Melbourne, so won't have time to check into any hotels or anything.
