We are planning to visit Old Town for the car rally one Saturday night but I am worried about getting back to our hotel.

We are staying at All Star Movies without a car. We know we can get the Lynx No 56 from the TTC to Old Town but I have checked their website and found that the last bus on a Saturday night is 9.30ish.

Does anyone know:-
a. how long the car rally lasts and
b. whether we can get a taxi back from there

Thanks

I dont think I would class it as a rally as such - the custom built, old cars drive very slowly around the Old Town then park up for everyone to have a look. It lasts most of the evening. We drive so I cant comment on the taxi - sorry. I know everyone has their own opinions on the Old Town, but we hate it now. We used to go all the time, but missed a couple of years and went back last April - full of people drinking on the streets (Americans and Brits), swearing and just not a very nice place. Dont know if we hit on a 'bad' night, but we wouldnt go again. I'm sure someone will say different tho!

We went to see the car rally and it is worth a look, old town is lovely. We were staying at AKL and getting a taxi there and back is easy and not too expensive. we have taxi's to get us around and it still was cheaper than the hiring a car. Most taxi firms will give you there card so you can ring the same one for your return and sometimes you can agree a price.

We too are planning on visiting Celebration then Old Town on a Friday using the No56. We are also staying at ASMO's.

In fact I may even catch a cab both ways, it's quite a treck from ASMO's to the TCC, probably a good hour.

Bus from ASMO's to MK, then the monorail or Ferry across the lake to TCC, then catch the No56.

It is an experience though even using the monorail/ferry and seeing the other esorts or the MK from the lake.
If you have kids ask to ride upfront on the monorail, you can sit with the driver and the kids get a special licience if there's room.

I will e-mail a cab company soon about the costs, I will let you know.

Just received a reply from Quicksilver regarding the price of a cab from Old Town to AMO's, one way is $40 plus tip.

Thanks for that.

I will make a note of Quicksilver's number - do you know how far in advance we need to book (i.e. day before, week before, etc) and can we arrange a specific time to be picked up?

Thanks again

We stayed in a villa at formosa gardens we had a car but got a taxi to old town one night. There was 11 of us I rang a local taxi firm it cost us $60 that was for a return trip and included a tip so I think this would be cheaper than the bigger companies I still have the number if you would like it.
