Hi All, We are visiting DC for the first time in about 15 days from now:grin: there are four of us all doing the swim including my DH and two DS's so I was wondering how we get to take our own photos? if we are all in the water with the Dolphin at the same time? seems slightly impossible to me? Also has anyone bought the photo CD - if so what is the quality like? are we going to be dissapointed when get home and transfer them onto the PC??
Any ideas anyone could give would be great
Thanks
The quality of the photo CD is great (well ours was) If your all in the water at the same time you wont be able to take photos as cameras are not allowed in the pool with the dolphins, they take lots of photos so you wont be dissapointed. We bought the video but I didnt think that was value for money although its nice to look back at. Have a lovely time there it was the highlight of our trip :)

Does the video show all of the people in the pool at that time or does it concentrate on your family only?

you can buy all different packages cannot remember how much they were but if you go on the website it may give you the prices.

You usually go in groups of 8 persons which is usually 2 families the video is of whoever is in the group, each person takes turns interacting with the dolphin and it is all filmed, the downside is you cannot see the video until you get home, hope that helps.

You could ask to have your swims in 2 different groups and then one of you will be able to take photos of the others.
The Discovery Cove photos were good quality, but pricy. We found it was really the only way to get close enough for some shots and you spend a lot of time with your back to anyone trying to get photos from the beach.
Best to budget for the DC photos, if you get them on CD you can reproduce them as many times as you like at home and you also get some additional shots of the dolphins and around the park. If I remember we were $215 for the photo CD and DVD.
My best tip is to get some underwater disposable cameras ($8 in Walmart, $20 at DC) as we got excellent shots from them in the lagoon with the rays and tropical fish and around the lazy river. They are great for kids to take photos of each other snorkeling.

Thanks for those tips - I think we may all go in together as the youngest DS likes to be with his Dad on this type of thing! and will be nice for us all to experience being with the dolphin together. From what you guys have said I expect we will go for the CD option:)
Cant wait for this day :spin:

Bear in mind that if you split up you would need to buy two videos!! We went for the video and photo cd package but because there was a slight problem with the sound they gave us the video for free but the problem is really not that bad.

I'm sorry if this offends but I found the quality of the video and some of their photos very poor considering the price they ask you pay.
Lots of people including us on our first visit see the photos through rose tinted glasses and part with a lot of cash for nothing.
There is also the need to have something to remind you of the dolphin swim, making you reluctant to refuse to buy their photos.
If you select some decent places for taking photos then you probably can take ones on par with the ones taken by the staff members.
Please don't get me wrong as I love DC, but for the cost the photos are just not up to it.

Yes you can just buy the photos :) buying the CD is the best option as you can put them on your PC and get loads of copies printed.

we bought some pics from Discovery cove in december. We just bought 4= 5x7", and 2= small magnets.....and it cost $62 .
We chose one pic that had all four of us on, and the other 3 were of me, DH and DD swimming with the dolphin, as the ones of us kissing her wasnt as good. My son did not do the swim, so only had one pic with him in it.
I wish we had been able to pal up with another family, so that we could have got them to video us, and take photos, and then us to return the favour.
Discovery cove IS a wonderful place, but think they ought to bring the prices down for the photos, as they make enough money just in one day for the experience of most peoples "once in a lifetime" trip
