Yes folks I am on day 1 of my Planner!!! :thumbs-up
From memory I don't think we will be at our resort until around 4pm so I wondering what our plans should be that first night and most importantly dinner :D
I'm thinking that with DD only being 2 I shouldn't try to push it by going into a park. DS (9) and DD may be happier with a swim and dinner.
So should I make an ADR somewhere and run the risk of them falling asleep with thier noses buried in thier hotdogs :( or should we just take what the CBR food court has to offer?
Hi Mandy,
We always go with good intentions to make the most of our first night and fail miserably because we are far too knackered by the time we have reached our hotel and checked in........and we don't have kids!!
I note you are not too far away from us (in Widnes) - so assuming you've gone from Manchester - you'll have been up for about 20 hours (with time difference) by the time you hit the sheets in Orlando!!
The last couple of times we have either eaten in resort- or even got room service, so we can unpack, unwind and relax and get an early night - ready to hit the parks in the morning.
With the time difference we always find we wake up around 5 or 6 the first couple of days, so we use this opportunity to get up and go - and make use of the EMHs at the parks.
Hope this helps! :wavey:

Last year we booked into RPR and had a booking at Tchoup Tchpup the same night. It was a rush, but we wanted to make the mst of the first night. It was a lovely meal, but in hindsight we were very tired the next day.
This year we are arriving late, booking into a low cost hotel for the first night an we will do a relaxed meal of some sort.

Must say I agree we always have good intentions but just manage to unpack and have something to eat in the room, at the time feels like I am wasting time but I think it would ruin the first day if we tried to do any more.

Yes we are flying from Manchester so your right .......... with the best will in the world we are going to be dead on our feet (I will have walked about 3 miles on the flight with toilet trips with DD :( ) CBR it is then :)
Right day 2 .......................................

Anything fancy for dinner on the first night would be a waste, you will be too tired to appreciate it. Take this from one who has fallen asleep in her steak
If you have a car I would suggest you do a grocery stop on the way to your resort and pick up some things which can make a light meal in your room. This can be supplemented by some offerings from the food court if you are up to a wander around. No matter how tired we are we need to have a nosey around.
If you don't have a car or can't make the grocery stop I would settle for a room service pizza or a quick trip to the food court.
You will likely be awake before the food court is open next morning so it might also be a good idea to have some snacks in your room to keep you going until breakfast.
We never unpack on the first night as it gives you something to do at 4am the first morning. ;)

Hi we do the same as everyone above but always end up with a take away to the room or Mc D's!this year we are staying at Cypress Pointe so we will be stopping to do a grocery shop when we arrive,so will probably pick something up from there.Following that we will go for a little walk just to re- aquainte ourselves once more with our surroundings.

hi Gaynor
If your staying in a villa/condo we have always found it great to chill and go and get a bit of shopping it from the nearest publix or wallmart on the first night we get there, we generally get a take away burger or pizza or something like that and just let the kids have what they want really cos you never really feel like anything big after travelling. Its fun going shopping for your "own house" for the holiday and the kids can pick up some eats they like too!!:pgig: :pgig:

We've got into a routine now -
Drive down to Sand Lake Road, shop for shampoo, suncream etc in WalMart (so, so cheap) and a few bits and bobs then straight over to Denny's for a simple meal before heading off to the hotel and crashing out. Up nice and early the next day and straight off to SeaWorld for Kraken on the front row.
Ahhhhhh . . . bliss !

The first night when I went with family and had a car was to just stop of at a small supermarket (not walmart else you won't get away!) and had some sarnies and crisps, pepsi. We'll probably do the same when we go and walk to the nearet deli or takeaway place.

I think next time we will either get a sandwhich such as a subway of KFC with a biscuit and take it back to the room. The pieces of chicken are bigger and not as fatty. Room service sounds good, but I think we are going to stay at a cheapish hotel for the first night as we get in late.

My kids have never made it to the hotel/villa awake, they always fall asleep as soon as they get in the hire car. I would just grab a sandwich somewhere and start your holiday with a nice breakfast at Perkins, why Perkins? It's open 24 hours, so when you wake up at 4am, you can go get something to eat!
We usually grab something quick from the nearest food outlet and aim for bed with an early start the next day, but we go with another family and because they always stay on disney resort, they try to get to Disneyquest for the cheesecake factory, they have a love of chilli cheese fries!!!
Just noticed Ian+lynne and Buttons are close to me also - I live in Warrington

We've always been too shattered to even think about doing much on the first night! We tend to just explore the hotel a bit then grab a quick meal in the foodcourt before bed! But then i'm so excited i'm wandering around the hotel grounds by 5am raring to go!!!

Hi Mandy, try DTD and the Earl of Sandwich its cheap and a must for serious dibber, also DTD gets u in Disney mood right away at night time theres a buzz about the place:)
Steve
If you feel up to going out for a wander then DTD is the place to do it, as Steve says, you get the Disney feel straight away. However there is no point pushing yourself on the first night as it will definately catch up with you over the next couple of days, especially if you are hitting the Parks commando style. Much better to grab a light snack and retire early dreaming of all the delights in store.

This last trip:cry: in Dec (a distant memory ) we did a drive-thru Mc.D's but on previous holidays we usually get a hot chicken and salad and fresh bread from Wal-Mart.:tounge:
All you North West Dibbers, I've started a new thread, rather than taking over this one. Ian:wave:

We must be strange ,because my kids dont sleep on the plane and dont sleep till at least 10-11 oclock (orlando time). Mind you none of us wake up till at least 8 oclock the next morning.:spin:
We usually get some Shopping from walmart and have Dinner in the Villa. It has been known for us to find Denny's diner and have a meal there first night.

I love their breakfasts too mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Back on the subject in hand, we usually go to Publix for supplies and then back to the villa to chill but last June when we went with all the family we popped into China 1 next to Publix first - service was quick and food was good but, as usual in Florida, we ordered far too much Chinese than we needed!!! Quite funny when the lady chased after us and told us we had not paid enough but she then realised she had three of our brand new twenties stuck together - she was so embarrassed!!!! :pgig:

My kids never sleep on the plane and always want to go for a swim as soon as we get to the hotel. Then a quick trip across the road to Wendy's which they would live on if I let them.

I agree with most people on here. Relax and chill on the first night, but I would book a breakfast ( character brekkies are such fun) for the morning. As although you wont think you will e up early you will!!! We took advice from eeryone here, and we were having breakfast at 9am the first day.My DD LOVED meeting the characters and it got her use to them before doing the parks. Plus it made a GREAT start to the holiday. What ever you decide... enjoy.

We stayed on I-Drive so our first night dinner was at Sweet Tomatoes! We were really hungry & it was the nearest buffet place to us - didn't feel like going out anywhere 'posher' since we were so tired & I'd heard good reviews about it anyway, it was a nice start to the holiday!
