View Full Version : Serengeti Safrai @ Busch Gardens
Has anyone been on this? I read somewhere that everyone must be at least 5 to do this. Is that true? We are taking our 3 yr old and 18 month old and are hoping to go on this. Can we do it?

For animal enthusiasts, we offer half hour Serengeti Safari tours daily. This open truck tour offers guests a unique look at our Serengeti Plain habitat hosted by a Busch Gardens education specialist. Encounter Giraffes, Zebra, Antelopes, and other African wildlife up close! This tour offers excellent photo opportunities. Cost is $29.99 off peak/ $33.99 peak each plus tax (adult and children). Children must be ages 5 and up to participate. Large groups may be accommodated with an advanced notice of at least one week. Tickets need to be picked up at the Adventure Tour Center located in the Morrocan Village at the main entrance.
Got this from Busch gardens website, you are right they have to be 5 and up.:(

Aaaahnhhhh!! I wonder why. I might drop them an e-mail and ask as my 2 love animals. We have an annual pass at Woburn Safari Park and we have been on the ranger tour there. Probably Americans being over safe to avoid any possible lawsuits:angry:
Thanks for finding this

Children under the age of 5 are not permitted on the Serengeti Safari portion of the tour due to safety concerns.
Yes it is a safety concern.:(

Does anyone know if you have to book this well in advance or can you just book it when we get there. The only reason I ask is we have allocated one of two days to visit - either a Saturday or a Sunday. I know both of those days are going to be busy (its mid May by the way) but I was going to play it by ear, but I really want to do the safari when I get there.......
Any thoughts or advice?

After visting www.buschgardens.com, you can book this in advance and they reccommend doing that. Wish we could do it.:(

We did it on our trip in September 04. It was good (for $25ish each) but not fantastic. We got to feed some antelope-type things and some giraffes. We did get a lot of time with the giraffes but there were quite a few on our tour so everybody took turns.
I suspect the reason for the age restriction is because you are stood up on the back of flat-bed trucks with only the side of the truck to hold onto. It's a pretty bumpy ride so I can see why the age thing.

We did it in August '04 it was the best bit of the holiday!
Spent around an hour feeding all the animals.
Well worth the $25. each. I would imagine however, that very young children would not like it, it's bumpy and your in the sun!
I did this Oct 2005, and whilst it was great fun I wouldn't do it again.
Would Dolly here eat the young kiddies? =) =)
I almost had my fingers taken off feeding some beasties melon. Seriously =)
I won't be taking my 6 year old Niece this year on it.
