Hi gang
Well just back from a 3 night 2 1/2 day trip to DLP. This information i have collected for you may be of VERY GOOD USE.
DO NOT VISIT DLP ON A WEEKEND! Very, very busy! Friday was fantastic went on the rides over and over - did 3 rides on saturday/3 sunday.
95% OF DLP VISITORS SMOKE! WHILST Q'ING FOR RIDES WHILST WALKING AROUND. ARE THESE PEOPLE MAD!!
IT COST US 90 EUROS FOR A MEAL AT MICKEY CAFE. 1 ADULT 3 CHILDREN 1 LAMB (DONT BOTHER WITH IT FOR 23 EUROS TOTAL WASTE) AND 3 MICKEY FACE PIZZA (VALUE PIZZA FROM SUPERMARKET CUT INTO MICKEY FACE - NO FRIES, BEANS ETC) THE CHARACTERS WERE LOVELY BUT FOR THE PRICE WE COULD HAVE HAD A CHARACTER BREAKFAST £28.
McDonalds was 18 euro for 3 kids meals and 1 big mac meal. Eat there if on a budget and take rolls and snacks from the breakfast in the morning for the day.;)
I also took a flask and filled it in the breakfast area and took hot chocolate cups and we had our lunch in the theatre where the lion king was. ;)
THE CAPTAIN NEMO NEW RIDE THINGY IS NOT A RIDE. WHEN THIS WAS AT MAGIC KINGDOM IT WAS A RIDE???? BIT OF A WASTE OF TIME! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING! :confused2
SO THERE YOU ARE - HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ALL! TAKE MY ADVICE AND YOU SHOULD ENJOY YOUR TRIP.

Hi Jo, welcome home.:wavey:
Thanks for the info. We are off on Tues so it all helps.
I was aware of the high crowds at weekends so we chose to book Tues to Sat so hopefully by Saturday (our coming home day) we would have done everything anyway.;)
With regards to the smoking, i was aware of this and i will find it very annoying. It is one of my pet hates. Just hope nobody blows their smoke in the direction of my two boys or they are going to know about it.:mad2:
We were considering Cafe Mickey as one of our sit down meals so maybe a re think in order. Did you go to Annettes Diner as we would like to try this one.
Did they do anything veggie in Macdonalds apart from fries?
If you could also post your high points that would be great. Also your thoughts on Magic Unlimited would be good.:thumbs-up
We will be staying at the Sequoia Lodge but not sure if you stayed there or not.
Looking forward to hearing more.:wavey:

Hi Le
Sorry to post all the horrible points but yes there were high points too.
We did eat at Annettes diner (a better meal than Cafe Mickey) it was 54 euros for 1 adult and 3 children.
Magic unlimited was great  - we went on the Rockin rollercoaster 5 times which was fantastic. This is only offered on certain rides these are the ones which we did - rockin rollercoaster small world pirates indiana jones teacups - and i think there was one or two more (think spacemountain had same facility).
The McDonalds there is more or less same as home.
A friend of ours which was on same bus stayed at Sequia lodge - had lovely time there - you will enjoy.
Another thing we enjoyed was the walk down from the hotel to the park. Its at the bottom of the hotel over a small bridge which takes you out past the ice skating rink - which was lovely too. well worth a look.
The weather was not too bad - was expecting really cold - like last time in January - but was surprisingly mild.
I think that as a nation British people generally do not like the smoking in the park and it is VERY VERY apparent there. I even asked a pregnant French lady if she could not blow smoke onto my children whilst waiting to see the Princesses in front of the castle.
Hope you have an absolutely fantastic time:grin:

If you think of anything else that may be of use, please post.
Also if you took any photos i would love to see them in the gallery.:thumbs-up
Thanks for posting back.

Hi and welcome back!
Had to smile at your "smoking" comments as I found exactly the same thing on our last visit to DLP and thought perhaps it was just me !
The worst of it was as we were waiting for the Parade when the French seemed to use their foul smelling cigs to create more space for themselves by puffing all over us and waving them around dangerously!
No regard for kids at all and one man was puffing on a large cigar which was even worse !:(
Apart from that we have always had a good time there and use it as a small Disney fix in between WDW visits!

Sorry to sound thick but what is magic unlimited?
We are off on 19th March and looking for some tips on where to eat, character breakfasts etc, also how do you book these?
Does anyone know what crowds are like in March, our first day in parks is the Monday I was hoping it would be pretty quiet!

It only runs from the 9th - 13th February.
On certain rides and attractions you can ride as many times as you like without having to get in line again.
They also have all you can eat buffets in some places for 18 - 20 euro per adult and 10 euro for kids.
It was great we done Rock ' N' Rollercoaster, Space Mountain and Pirates loads of times.
It would have been better though if Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor were included.

Hi Billy.:wavey:
I have looked at your photos a couple of times and they are great.:thumbs-up
According to the Cresta brochure Magic Unlimited runs from 8th Jan - 3rd Feb and starting on 4th Feb-12 March is the Kids Carnival.
We come back late on 4th Feb so we will get the best of both worlds.;)

hi everyone
came back friday from a sneaky 3 day visit - it was FREEZING but enjoyed every minute of it. magic unlimited was great and the staff and characters were brilliant - as for the french, well what can you say, same as always, rude, ignorant and the smoking thing is disgusting. we stayed at the santa fe this time (excellent deal) which was good, our room was not far from reception. we ate at planet hollywood the first night (first ever visit) and found it fine - better that rainforest cafe, couldnt fault the quantity and price reasonable. the next night we just had a baguette from the new york deli (just me and my friend from work went, no kids). went by eurostar - my preferred mode of transport. not many Q's except for big thunder mountain (which i thought was included in magic unlimited but wasnt) but most of the other rides were. space mountain had Q's but you were able to skip it after your first go (magic unlimited on this ride). saw all the parades and shows with no probs. most of the shops had 50% off alot of the stock so look out for this.
kylai you have to book character dining direct with disney (unless your tour operator offers this but most dont) give them a ring (which is what I would do) or when you arrive, enquire at the concierge desk.
leanne i stayed at the sequoia christmas time and the hotel is lovely - rooms lovely and big (we had a montana room) and found the restaurants better food wise. remember to take your swimming cozzies.
going back july - taking the kids this time haha, staying at the newport bay so any feed back on this hotel would be appreciated.
for anyone going in the next month or so, take lots of warm clothes because it WILL be COLD and most importantly HAVE FUN!!!!

Great info msdisneytonian.:thumbs-up
Well timed as well we are off tomorrow morning!:spin: :spin:
Thanks for the info on the hotel. This is our first DLP trip and we have booked a Montana room also.
Any bad points or things i should know about the parks and restaurants mainly?
Also how would you rate the crowds, longest queue time maybe?
I am hoping it will be fairly quiet, as i don't fancy queuing for ages in the brrrrrr cold.:erm:
If you have anything to add or any pics i can see that would be fab.:wavey:

hi leanne
Q's should not be too bad - you'll probably be able to walk straight on most of them, the only one you may have a Q on is big thunder mountain - i would recommend getting a fastpass for this ride if the Q is over 15 mins. peter pan will probably have a Q but we didnt wait more than 5 mins to ride. most of the other rides should be ok. in the studios dont miss the cinemagic and animagic shows they are excellent and the kids will love them. look out for the characters to have your pickies taken with them - they keep the photos for 2 days so wait until you have all of them done and they have an offer on at the mo where you can buy any 2 pictures for 18 euros (you can mix the photos for the different characters. minnie is usually in the town square (to the left as you go under the train station) and mickey is at the top of the arcade again to your left. pooh is over by the castle and they also have the disney princesses in front on the castle. the studios had lots of different characters which the kids will love. also if you wait by the doors up by rock n roller coaster (to the left) before the studio parade starts (get there for about 10 mins before) they let the first 20 odd people with kids ride with mickey mouse on the last float (make sure you get a special pass - these are given out by one of the cast members, dont be shy to ask and be aware the french will try and push infront of you). you shouldnt have Q's in the studios. some of the restaurants have magic unlimited - these will be shown on your park maps which you should receive with your tickets on arrival at the hotel or just inside the parks. take time to study the maps and try and remember land marks as its easy to get lost in the park (no probs in studios). just have fun but wrap up warm. the rainforest cafe is worth visiting if you have little ones - they love the animals. have you asked for a good morning fantasyland breakfast? if not ask when you arrive tomorrow. the character tea party is lovely, again ask at the hotel, i think it costs about £9 each but is well worth the money. i would try and schedule lunch about 20 mins before the lion king show (make sure its the english version - look on the notice board at the top of main street, to the right) will give you chance to get a good seat and warm up from the cold. sorry, jumping around abit but typing things as i remember them. the restaurant in the hotel is lovely (the one on the left as you go down the stairs). if i think of anything else i'll post later - the boss keeps giving me funny looks haha.

We have booked a Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast and we are doing the character tea party on Thursday.
Its going to be great! Loved your tip about riding on the float with Mickey, will definately be trying for this one.;)
Thanks again for taking the time to help.:wavey:

like i said leanne, dont be shy, push your way in cos the french will. if you stand facing rock n roller coaster the gates are to the left (parade starts at 1.30pm). make sure you are by these gates about 15 mins before to be sure to get some of the special pass tickets.
you'll have a fab time, the tea party is lovely and the fantasy brekkie (dont forget to take your special voucher with you) gets you in the park even earlier - you can either ride the train to fantasyland or walk up main st (which i prefer cos its empty) - its in the restaurant next to the pinnochio ride (opp peter pan).
have a disneytastic time

Some great tips, thank you.
I certainly won't be shy it will be strange having to deal with people so rude though. I think it is just something that isnt tolerated here thank god.
I have only ever been to Florida where everybody is just so nice. This will be a little different i think.:erm:
