View Full Version : A day at the Beach?
I am considering spending one day driving to a beach on this year's trip. Would welcome any suggestions on which one.
We have 3 girls (8,6,3), so have to entertain them. I personally would like to see the sunset on the gulf coast beach, but wondered whether a combination of a few hours at KSC and then Cocoa/Daytona would be better.
depending on time restraints, could possibly even fit both in - we are there during Presidents week so the parks might too packed anyway.
Any ideas? Cheers.

At this time of year, Id have to advise the Gulf Coast. The Atlantic side can get bitterly cold and the waters very choppy. The Gulf Coast is warmer and calmer.
If the kids are prone to get bored quickly , then I would choose Clearwater Beach as its more commercial than the others, but if they are happy with just miles of lovely white sand, you could try St Petes Beach or maybe further North at Indian Rocks Beach.
Hope this helps

I would definetely say the Gulf side, went to Cocoa beach once and that was enough, very crowded although might not have that problem this time of year but lot colder than gulf side which is paradise, we stay on Anna Maria island which is by Bradenton and it is gorgeous.
I would agree the gulf side would be better if you have kids as cocoa beach is quite rough ideal for surfing and quite a strong current where as clearwater is a lot calmer.Have fun. Karen

hi
we spent a day at cocoa beach (which i add is beautiful) however i have to agree that the current is very strong and therefore probably better suited to surfers, we will be going back to cocoa beach againa as it was lovely but my children found the water far too rough and only paddled if we were by their side.
Have a great holiday
Thanks all - looks like Gulf coast then, I'll probably visit Clearwater, I read somewhere on here that there is an island that can be visited just off the coast, anyone been to it, what is it called?
