View Full Version : What rides?

Fellow dibbers Janesi and I need your help ;)

We are both big chickens when it comes to rides but this year we're going to pull out all the stops and go on a 'big' ride. Jane has a bad back as well so we can't do anything that involves a lot of shaking, but to make it a bit of fun, whatever the majority say we'll go along with it - we've got 10 more months to psych ourselves up for it :)

I'm voting for Splash because I think it's the others will hurt Jane's back - Space Mountain is really quite jerky.

I'm voting for Splash too, it was the first one I did out of those and I survived even though I am a big chicken too.

I voted for two of my faves, but agree that Space Mountain can be jerky and also, as it is in the dark IMHO not as pleasurable.
The theming of Splash and ToT are worth it alone. I have a chronic neck and lower back problem (I'm not a wreck honestly but they can get easily irritated) and have no problem at all on either of these.
Test Track is good, but not as much fun as my choices:D

There are no BIG rides in your list ;) :D

ok, seriously, there is only one choice and that is Splash Mountain.

ToT with it's different drop sequences and only now having seat belts rather than the old lap bars could cause problems for someone with back injury. This ride has some fabolous themeing though.
If it's not too busy you could experience a lot of the themeing as there is a chicken exit right at the point where you enter the lifts.

Space Mountain is rather tame as rollercoasters go but it can be jerky and jolt you around a bit

Test Track involves sharp braking and sharp turns, again not the best for someone with back problems.

Splash mountain is a gentle ride until the last drop, but even that is smooth. You'll enjoy the ride and I'm suer you'll want to repeat the experience.

I am not trying to be irresponsible if someone has an ongoing back issue, but ToT has never upset my lower back and so in my experience it is OK

close call between splash mountain and TOT but didnt like space mountain one bit - very cramped as I am tall

test track was ok but themeing is better on SM and TOT

I too find Space Mountain very jerky so not good for a bad back ..... but why no RNR??? It's a smooth ride and fast ..... failing this then for the theming and a bit of a thrill then I'll go for splash too

Looks like Splash at the moment :omg:

I think we could be brave enough to do Splash, it looks the 'kinder' option.

Val, there is absolutely no way we would do RNR, that is way past our endurance levels ;)

Hi Clare - I am a big chicken too, and I have managed Splash Mountain - and think you will love it!!!

I am busy pyshing myself up for Soarin (not good with heights) and Test Track (not good with the unknown!!!) - so I know how you both feel...

I'm a chicken as well and I did Test Track, Soaring and TOT. Loved the first two but no way would I ever do TOT again. It really hurt my neck and the top of my head for some reason:)

I pressed before I could vote for them all Claire. I love ToT and find it very tame. There isnt any jerking - just the drops. I too have a bad back but this is one that doesnt affect me. Space mountain, I go on but it is jerky. Splash mountain I find affects me more than ToT (I just dont like the ride much either) but with Test Track its just like being in a fast car!
RnR I will do once - I dont know why but I will. I dont think you would like it Clare. I actually hurt my neck on it.

I thought Splash Mountain was horrible! It felt like it went on forever and the drop at the end was nasty!!! :nonono:

Thanks Nic for your honest opinion!! It's the drop that I am worried about!! I can just about manage POC and that's with holding my breath!!! I did do Test Track last year, but when you speed outside I felt VERY sick!!! As to RNR, that is beyond me - I don't do upside down in any shape or form!! And as for Space Mountain - no way. If I say that doing Goofys Barnstormer last year really did my back and I had to go for Physio in the summer as the pain would not go away!!! I have osteo arthritis, so when it flares up, it hurts like ****.

I voted for TOT. I'm a chicken too but went on this ride with DS1 and loved every minute of it:spin: I don't think it would hurt your back either.

I've voted for Splash Mountain 'cos it's my fave ride at Magic Kingdom. The animatronics on the first part are brilliant and then there's the brilliant drop in the end, which always gives me a huge buzz!! Love it'!!

I voted test track.
Test track isnt scary, or high, its just fast.
To be fair, its only fast at the end.
Overal, one of my fav rides

My favourite is the tower of terror i can't tell you exactly why but it is just brilliant. I have been on a lot of rides but my hands were actually shaking when i came of this one for the first time - it was great - probably because
they frighten you a little like a horror movie as well.:spin:

Got to be splash mountain closely followed by Test track. Splash mountain is brill and even for a chicken like me it wasn't bad.
Family fav is test track its not frightening. The other two options are certainly the more nerve racking experience.;)

Each to their own I suppose Fiona! ;) One of these days I will get my DH to understand how much I hate rides with big drops, I am a wimp and I don't care one jot!!

I voted for test track- but to be honest I found it boring rather than tame - kept waiting for the good bit ! :D I think the fast bit is the only good bit ! I would psych yourselves up for splash mountain - even if you shut your eyes on the drop the theming makes up for it. ( and I hated flume rides before Orlando)

Splash mountain really isn't scary and looks worse than it is at that. I also love Thunder Mountain but will NOT even consider anything that does upside down or spins. Debating if I can cope with Space Mountain or Tower of Terror this time. Perhaps will have to send my friend on first to check it out. By the way can anyone compare Space Mountain to X no way out at Thorpe Park as that is also in the dark and made me feel really ill for the rest of the day.

I don't do upside down in any shape or form!!

No, neither do I!!! Never!!

I have done Space Mountain, I would much rather do that than Splash Mountain though if I was there with my DH I probably wouldn't bother. I only went on Space Mountain to stop him moaning!!

There's a drop in Splash Mountain before the big outside one, bigger than the POC one I think.

I have done Splah Mountain - Easter last year and have the photos in my gallery to prove it and remind me how wet I got - was in the front! This is someone who can get sick being driven home from work! I psyched myself up for some weeks to go on with DD who was 6. I figured that there is only so much they can do on water when you're not strapped in so there was only really the drop to worry about and that is over very quickly. Would I do it again? Probably! I should add that we went on straight after our CP breakfast which may not have been the best decision but everything was fine! GO on you can do it!!!

mmmm x no way out is a bit like space mountain apart from that xnwo is not the same thing as space mountain the whole setting is differant, the whole magical feeling is differant and the whole ride is differant i think that is nothing like it because its much faster and more drop and it dosnt go back wards
